Great to hear that. I'm thinking about getting Caldera ultra perforated suede, but hard to find any listening experience from users. What about a bass impact or quantity vs Universal Lambskin perforated pads? Can you tell? Looking forward also hear your opinion about Caldera Ultra Lambskin.
Ok.

I listened to a lot of Chopin and Bach this morning. Absolutely beautiful on the VO. I'm very content with classical music on this thing.
After that I switched to Marilyn Manson. (I saw them last Friday in Philly. Freaking awesome). Anyway, the VO had very nice attack and a lot of weight. Guitars were not bright but still very resolving. The dynamic swings were covered very well.

Well said.

When I first heard about the VO's beryllium driver I felt some apprehension: I've heard some bad, overly bright/tense sound from the occasional headphone or speaker pair w/beryllium drivers. I needn't have worried. The VO's drivers are blazing fast but not bright: lots of tone and note-weight, things usually missing from overtly fast drivers. This is a rare combination in my experience.

As for genres, when I first fell in love with the VO's sound, I figured classical music would be it's forte--because it absolutely kills on classical. But when I tried all the other genres I love (funk, old/new soul, ambient, reggae/worldbeat, others w/a strong pulse), it absolutely killed on them, as well.

Nothing is perfect, but I have yet to identify a real, obvious sonic weakness in this headphone. In fact, I've completely stopped trying.

Spot on!!!

Classical, jazz and acoustic music sound phenomenal on the VO. So many times on so many tracks I would listen to the VO and hear something and say to myself, oh, that would be pretty shrill on the Bokeh. But no! The VO impresses the hell out of me.
Like I said, I love the caldera Ultra, high density, perforated suede. I'll try the Caldera perforated lamb maybe tomorrow.

Not only does the suede sound great but I have a bit of a bias.
I have a bald head and whenever I try the other materials, it sticks to my head when I take them off. Imagine if you will, lying on a leather sofa with no shirt on. After a few minutes when you get up, you have to kind of "peel" yourself off. Well, the same thing happens with leathery headphone pads.
(It's okay to laugh). , 😄

The suede feels so much more comfortable than anything else.

Thank you. With a high impedance headphone like this I would like an OTL amp. I'm sure one day I'll get one. This amplifier and my ZMF Bokeh were my first foray into dynamic headphones and tube headphone amplifiers. Before this I was strictly low impedance planar magnetics driven by high current solid state amplification.
My Bottlehead Crackatwoa (bought 2md hand from a friend who built it) is an amzing pairing with my Verites AND my Beyer DT880 600ohms!!

I took the Suede pads off and tried the Caldera Ultra perforated Lamb this morning.
Oh my...

It seems I'm getting a touch more resolution and openness in relation to the Suede. I'll have to listen a bit more over the weekend.
I like both sets but wow, this Lamb...

If you want more detail/resolution, do what I did. Cut the middle out of the pads. Treble is now just perfect for me on the VOs!

Wonder which one (suede or lambskin) you will preffer....
I'm thinking it's lambskin all day. I was listening extensively over the weekend and those pads make me forget about wondering if I have the right pad on or not. If that makes sense. Everything just gels with the lambskin and the coherency top to bottom is exactly to my liking. The sound is expansive, open with very nice decay when needed. The lambskin has a tighter seal around my bald head and I listen for hours with zero adjusting of the headphones. The seal was so damn good, I disconnected my cable from my amplifier, put the four pin XLR in my pocket and walked to the kitchen to make another cup of coffee just so I wouldn't have to take off the wonderful seal I got from the lamb.

LMAO.
