For grins I bought this 2008 amp, Creek Audio OBH-11. Yup the old first edition I believe. Not modded in anyway.
How can this amp sound so good with these VC's...
Amazing.
In my DIY quest building so much stuff I was (am) going to totally rebuild this amp with better "stuff" BUT
I am really shocked at how well its doing just as it is!

The "BEFORE" pix.
Have to order all the parts.
Just found a schematic.
Will take a few weeks to get parts etc.
The actual take out and install is the easy part, half a day or so.

With my VCs, I received 5 sets of pads (none perforated though). Question: How do I tell them apart? Any signs/measures that'll help?

Does your card tell you which is which? I only received 2 pair, but they were explained to me which is which.

You can always refer to the pad specs on ZMF's shop website: https://shop.zmfheadphones.com/collections/pads. Just note that you'll need a caliper or a very small ruler.

Here a a few tips in telling the pads apart:
  • The Auteur Pads and Universe pads are the easiest to tell apart. The Auteur pads will be noticeably thicker on their largest side, as well being more angled.
  • The Universe pads are almost completely flat.
  • The Eikon Pads will look exactly like the Auteur Pads, except the circumference of the ear cavity is smaller.
  • The BE2 pads will look exactly like the Universe pads, except they will be overall thinner.
In general, you don't want to use perforated pads on the VC. Even the newer Caldera Pads, which can work well with a closed headphone like the Atrium Closed, might not sound great with the VC (although I've not personally tried them yet).

Metallic Sharpie used on the outside or underside of the lip makes keeping tracking easy once you ID them.

good day all... Here are my newest addition to my ever expanding and increasingly more strategic headphone stable. VC with Black and White Ebony. Next to my Aficionado with a pair of RCA 1932 Single Plate 2A3s. The sound is glorious. Snappy, crunchy, fast, and oh so much fun...
Beautiful headphones sir!!

Hi @TooFrank Thanks for being a ZMF owner! You can always feel free to email us some photos of the pads and we can help you ID them. Sometimes a birds eye view plus a profile view for thickness is helpful and we'll do our best. support@zmfheadphones.com

Hello Firstlady from Zmf,😊.
I wrote you an email yesterday, did you receive it?
You are probably inundated with emails I guess.
