Hello, I've been browsing this site for a few years but have never registered an account. Glad to join and start posting. Forgive me for any mistakes or lack of knowledge in regards to the correct terminologies to use.

I recently acquired a pair of VCs, they're excellent but I'm trying to get the most out of them for my given sound profile preference. I'm looking for some advice on what pads to try next.

My headphones came with two sets of pads but unfortunately the guy I purchased them from wasn't sure what they were. I compared how they look to pads on the ZMF site and concluded they are lambskin solid Auteurs and Universes. Additionally I ordered some Eikon Suedes to try because I really like a strong bass and sub-bass presence, the problem with them is that much of the detail and soundstage of the mids and highs get too washed out.

I like the clarity and detail of the Auteurs but like the heavier bass presence of the Eikon Suedes at the same time. Is there a pad out there that gives the best of both worlds (i.e, an Auteur with stronger bass presence, especially in the energy of the actual bass notes, not necessarily just more sub bass). An Auteur hybrid or suede perhaps?

Call me crazy but I prefer the look of the Ironwood VC over all the Epoxy Stabilized.

I use Auteur hybrid pads because they are comfy. I would use EQ to have more bass.

Yeah, I wanted to order the Blackwood VC but 500g is my limit. (My Camphor Burl VC are 490g)
I do think that when it comes to looks along and lightweight properties, the camphor Burl is hard to beat. I have a particularly grainy set of cans and its so light. Compared to my Ironwood VO, the VC feels like feather.

Thanks Zach! I was able to grab the Acavia VIIs! Mario Kart skill paid off this time.

Got me the Acastris IX :) I'm really happy I snagged a pair this time around! Thank you @zach915m for these beautiful epoxy sets. I'm actually glad I never was able to snag a stabilized set before. Turned out the wait was worth it :)

Haven’t been into the headphone game for a while but of course ZMF brings my attention back to it. Just here to say how much I appreciate the art and craftsmanship of ZMF headphones, these resin headphones are unreal. Here are my favorite:

The ones that look like stone or marble are definitely very cool! They have that shimmer to them in person too.

Do VC sound better than open? What’s your experience?
