Love VO, but prefer VC due to Tonal preference.

Anybody know what it costs to have a ZMF cable reterminated? I don’t really want to hassle with any bulky adapters. It’s a 2K Copper cable if that matters.

I had Bevin re terminate my 2k copper headphone cabele from 6.3 mm to xlr and it cost me $40 for everything.

Awesome, that’s exactly what I wanted to know! Sounds a lot cheaper than buying a $150 2K Copper adapter. I appreciate you sharing the info.

You got it brother. I would just shoot Bevin an email and she will take care of everything for you. The turn around time was around 3 days

Well the money from the recent sale of my Manchurian Ash VC was definitely burning a hole in my pocket. I couldn’t even wait until the 21st to see what Zach will be selling during ZMF November. A lovely set of LTD Olive VC’s with brass rods called to me, and I was helpless to resist! Here’s what I’ve got heading my way soon:

I need some me opinions on cable sleeving. I am planning on sending my 10ft 2K Copper 4-pin XLR cable in to ZMF to have it re-terminated to a 1/4” connector. The cable is currently sleeved, but I’m considering having the sleeving removed while it’s being worked on.

What is the general reason to use sleeving on headphone cables? Is it purely there to keep the cable safe? Does it help prevent microphonics? On a fancy cable like this, I’d kind of like to see all the expensive braided copper. On the flip side, it is a very expensive cable and I’d like to keep it safe from my pets/kids!

Please present your arguments for and against cable sleeving.

P.S. If anyone happens to have a gently used 2K Copper 4-pin XLR to 1/4” adapter they might be willing to part with, shoot me a PM. I can’t bring myself to spend $150 on a new one, hence the plan to re-terminate.

Sleeving whether paracord or my favorite braided sleeving:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075VR7ZQS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
are purely aesthetic and make for a clean build.
You can have any color you choose but if you have braided cord than this is not necessary as the braided cord is a work of art in of itself.
It does not cut down on microphonics and can sometimes add to the problem depending on how stiff an rigid the cabling is.

Also if you can get Zach to get you one of these 1/4 jacks it will not dissapoint…my all time favorite, real rugged, solid construction and reasonably priced.

You’re vote seems to be for no sleeving. I’m currently leaning towards having the sleeving removed. It seems like a shame to cover up that beautiful braided copper unless there’s a valid reason to do so.

I haven't posted here (here being Head-Fi) in many months, but today is the 1 year anniversary of the arrival of the Koa VC. So I thought it was appropriate to jump back in and say hello to everyone. These headphones have killed any desire for anything else, and even my poor Aeolus aren't getting much time anymore. A big part of why I haven't been posting here (outside of being ridiculously busy) is I'm just enjoying listening to music. I'm happy with the DAC, amps, VC, and how they all work together. Currently listening to Gov't Mule's new album Heavy Load Blues on Qobuz with the Bifrost2 and OG Pendant. Last night was the same chain but with the Elekit amp I built earlier this year. Sometimes the GOTL is in the chain. The VC gives you detail, stage, speed, isolation, wonderful tone, and at the same time makes all of it just fun to listen to.

Thanks to the ZMF team for creating these amazing headphones!!!
