I am using a different DAC with the Arche, a Sonnet Morpheus, and it sounds fantastic. I am thinking about selling the Arche when my new amp arrives as I have determined I prefer the warmth tubes offer, but I have truly enjoyed the Arche, especially with the VC. I purchased the Morpheus to pair with a new hybrid tube amp, and since it arrived before my amp is finished, I hooked it up to the Arche which I had been listening to without a DAC. The Morpheus brought the Arche to life, soundstage is larger, detail is better, bass has more slam, and vocals have come to the forefront. I bought the Arche/Clear bundle which sounds amazing but I enjoy the VCs more with the Arche. Hope that helps.

Sales pitch alert! We have our two demo units - one was on a tour - of the Sonnet Morpheus for sale on the site for $2599. These will be warranted from Sonnet.

Yes, it does. Many thanks for sharing ... I actually thought that the Arche's DAC is very good, but I assume that a separate DAC like this plays on another level. But for me it is great to know that the VC will produce good results with the Arche ... since the latter is located next to my bed, where my closed headphone would be the best to be listened to :).

Here's some more!

Last but not least - we have some V Closed Ambrosia maple left. These are brand new units for the same price as the monkeypod. I believe we have 2 or 3 sets.

Good Lord, that Maple Ambrosia... If I didn't already have such a wonderful pair already I'd be all over this.

Good choice Morph is way better that Arche.

Just received lambskin co-pilot pad for my VC. I have to say it has added more comfort to deal with the weight the Leapardwood. Also, got the wooden case cause I felt like I was missing out on such a beautiful case! Thank you @BooUrns for your outstanding service as always!

What (non ZMF) headphone (or maybe a fusion of two or more different ones :) ) sound most similar to the Verite Closed monkeypod? I've no idea how any of the ZMF headphone sound, or what the ZMF house sound feels like. Not focusing on technicalities, but more like presentation, tonal balance, general experience of the music.

Why not just buy a ZMF during the current sales to try out? You can always resell it.

To be fair, the Ltd VCs barely lose any value when put on the secondhand market. It’s one of the few headphones that retains value, given the limited edition and how long they take to arrive when initially purchasing from ZMF

Ok here you go... The VC is like a HD800 with actual bass. The Aeolus is like a HD650 that's actually engaging without the mid suck out.

I'm gonna steer this thread back to what it was about..... VERITE CLOSED !!!
What pad situation you guys are dealing with? I'm currently running the auteur hybrid pads. However, I used my auteur lambskin pads since the begining and now, after switching to the hybrid pads, they sound a little bloomy...anyone else using anything different? My vc also came with verite and universe pads.

Help a fella out with some wisdom plz

I also have the same question about pads. I have a new VC coming and opted for the Auteur hybrid and Universe hybrid pads. I think I still have time to switch and I’ve been pouring through this thread and am second guessing myself. Should I not have gone with the hybrids? What about the eikon suede or BE2?? I’m looking for any suggestions on favorite pads from those who have tried many.

I liked the Autuer the best. It increases the bass a bit. Not crazy levels, but good for the genres I listen to (metal, hip-hop)

BE-2 Pads I think would be the only other pad to try? If you find the auteur too boomy and the Verite too dry, the BE-2 would be the one to try.
I'm listening to them now and have a pretty good span of experience with quite a bit of headphones, will PM in the next day or so.
You're comparison thread is a great source of info on some great headphones! For those who haven't read it:
