I saw those Cocobolo sets in Chicago, they are gorgeous. It was a very hard choice between them and the Macassar Ebony (which I ended up getting...) :)
Sorry if I missed them, but please post pics of the Macassar Ebony if you can. I've only been able to see quick glimpses from some of the videos.

Your Macassar Ebony Atrium's are incredible!!! I'm hoping to see a stabilized VC with them for this run (I'm sure they will have them as well)
Zach said he got some of that wood from a local wood distributor, which is normally rare to find (at any practical price at least), so he'd be making a few sets of those Macassar Ebony. Don't know how few were made, or if they'd be included in the upcoming special release, or if they few (one?) already snatched at CanJam. I think this was a rare one-time opportunity he took advantage off... but if you can get it, get it.. :)

Oh yes universe is always the same dimension, at least the foam is. There is some hand stitched leather variance, so we match the sets that go out.

Always welcome to email support@zmfheadphones.com and we can help identify them.
Thanks a lot for the reply!

Nothing has been sent out and I believe he's said he'll have more info on the weekend. Presumably just getting ahead with updating the ads which still were showing Koa which is no longer even available.

Thank you! I missed my chance at Koa Atrium. But the Cocobolo looks great as well.

Sweet! Been eyeing the Atrium's since their release, looking forward to what's coming up. The Koa VC's have been on my head non-stop since March, and the Atrium's seem to be a great complimentary headphone to the Aeolus.

As someone who has all 3, I can confirm that :)

Thanks for this. the WA22 has been on my radar for a while. How would you describe the sound signature of the stock tubes? What were the changes you heard when you swapped them out? Maybe it is time to just dive in...

This is very sensible advice, I appreciate it. I have been looking into tube amps for a while now, just never wanting to pull the trigger. I have been strongly considering both the WA22 and Feliks Euphoria for sometime. Those both seem to provide lots of options when it comes to tubes. Right now I feel like the WA22 would better suit my setup. I was looking at some of the Ampsandsound offerings, but I didn't care for their layout/footprint. Always open to other suggestions, but there sure seem to be a lot to choose from!
I would say some characteristics of the stock tubes would be a very big sound, 3d imaging, smooth but not necessarily warm as I thought a tube amp would sound, detailed but a more rounded off sound compared to solid state which I say has a more sharp and edgey sound, plenty of slam and dynamics, good bass but somewhat bloated. As far as upgrading tubes keep in mind that the sound signature depends on what tubes you roll. You can make it sound more warm and syrupy or more clean and detailed depending on what tubes you go with. I went ahead and got some really nice tubes. I am running emission labs 5u4g mesh rectifier, 1963 western electric 421a power tubes, and 1987 Mullard ecc35 6sl7 driver tubes. Rolling tubes was very interesting too because it wasn't sure how much would change. Now my wa22 is more detailed and clean sounding but has an even bigger sound with even better 3d imaging. Everything has tightened up but it is not clinical at all. Still very smooth and not bloated. The bass is more impactful and dynamics kick like a freaking mule. The highs have more sparkle and aren't as dense sounding as the stock tubes. The mids are smooth and realistic. Rolling tubes was well worth it. The sound improvement was immediately noticeable and put a big grin across my face. To me you just cant get this sound from a solid state amp.The main characteristics I noticed when I first heard tubes was the holographic/ 3d quality and how it just pulled more emotion and soul out of my music. I own a Soloist GT and to me it can't compete with the sound of the wa22. I do enjoy the GT but the sound of the wa22 just resignates with me more. The wa22 preamp is also a plus being able to listen with wa22 preamp into the GT and combining the sounds of each amp. It's like having 2 amps in one. I can listen 3 different ways with the Wa22 and GT. I am very happy with the wa22 especially since I bought the VC. The VC was the main reason I bought the WA22 and I am so glad I did. Best decision I have made in this hobby.
