That's just a beautiful picture!

That light on the right, I assume that's a light bulb and not a tube? :) definitely adds to the "atmosphere"... very nice :)

Hello,
What's that funny headphone stand you've got there?
Cocobolo pictures on arrival would be nice.
The grumpy goose is an awesome stand! It's not cheap buy totally worth it imo. Very well built, great design, beautiful, and unique! I'm waiting on him to make some more so I can have one for my VC and Atrium. You can find them on Etsy. The maker is called OCWorkshop.

Tyler do you still have your purple VC? I know you are a big fan of purple! Those Atriums are beautiful! I just got a purplish Atrium myself. Usually not a big fan of purple but I love yours and mine also!

@TylersEclectic, gorgeous headphones and photo! BTW, purchased a Kenzie OG Rev 2 for which you had high praise in a recent review. Been listening to it for about a week with my Auteur OG and your praise was certainly on point. It’s a magical pairing. Seriously considering an Atrium or Verite closed as my next purchase but for now I‘m loving the Kenzie/Auteur combo. :)

Hi Zach, what type of wood is my confection Atrium? The guy I traded wasn't 100% sure and I would like to know.

Loving all the amazing pictures of Zach’s handy work. They are all so unique and beautiful. Heirlooms. My Auteur OG Bocote is mad at me as the Atrium is getting lots of attention.

My impressions are continuing to solidify. The Atrium’s soundstage is perfectly realistic. I have never much cared about the size of the stage, just that it is big enough to fit all the musicians so they don’t sound cramped. Kind of like seeing a live show. They need space to breath, but not too much space so they can communicate. The Atrium presents an incredibly realistic and breathtaking image. Resolution is not LCD-4z, D8K Pro or TC level, but the way it images leaves nothing left to want. This headphone is truly remarkable. Here is a good example for those interested in how I am hearing the Atrium tonight. Take a listen to the track below if you dare...

The Atrium presents an incredibly developed midrange with the perfect amount of space. I cannot speak highly enough about the Atrium's imaging prowess. It lends to perfect instrument placement and the all important space between the notes, where music exists in an ethereal plane. The difference between a visceral experience and a 2 dimensional experience. The Atrium just sounds right. I am trying to not give up the ghost too soon, but I am really enjoying my time with the Atrium. @jonathan c spoke in his impressions about midrange depth, the development of the instruments in their own unique space leading to proper tonality and the heft and weight of the sound. I concur. I am particularly sensitive to headphones or gear that doesn't capture the true physicality of properly played music. Drives me crazy. Love those impressions and I find they are well thought out and 100% accurate.

What don't I like? Nothing! I can see why someone might not like the heft which gives off the feeling of darkness, but I don't hear them as dark at all. My Auteur Bocote sounds brighter, but not sibilant. Just more lit up from being a more forward sounding headphone. Preferences, not good or bad. it really comes down to whether or not someone likes this particular type of sound. Count me in!

One more song that I think really shows the way the Atrium present an image and instrument cohesion...

Last one of the night...

Sorry, one more. You know you are enjoying a new toy when you have to listen to another song and then another and then another. All of a sudden it is 1am and the morning looks less forgiving.

What do you use for headphones care?

I read this for headphones cleaning in ZMF FAQ.

I only can find this here, is this fine to clean and keep leather and wood in good conditions?

Absolutely lovely visual. The genius of ZMF but also of the photographer on display.

Question: do you think that the purple chassis detracts a little bit from the overall feel of the headphone? I wonder if those gorgeous purple wood cups would not be slightly better served by the contrast of a solid looking, black chassis.

Personally speaking based on my taste.
I would say with such bright colours, I would rather see the shot and Gumball in black.
It would have gone better with the contrast of the black grill.

The colour of the earpiece would have a limited influence on whether I would listen to the headphones.
I think very often people talk themselves into liking the look when the sound of the headphones fits.
In general, I would say that I have rarely seen ugly Zmf headphones.
If I did, I just didn't like the look of them, but to say they were ugly up front was very rare indeed.

About the care of the headphones:
I can highly recommend Elephant Wax for caring for the leather.
After it has been gently cleaned.
It nourishes the leather completely and makes it very supple after 2-3 times of use and also protects the leather from drying out.
I have had great experiences with it so far.
The pads are very dry when you get them from Zmf - at least that was the case with my Auteur.
Treated 2-3 times within 6 weeks, everything is now good.

For the earpieces, I simply take a damp microfibre cloth and wipe off the fingerprints and dirt.
And dry them again with the dry side.

As long as I see that it doesn't lose its shine, I don't see any need to polish it, which can be a bit difficult with the grill because of polishing residue that tends to dry on. if it does, you'll probably have to mask it off or cover it up a bit.
