Right in the center of the quick start guide it states, "Never Use Alcohol."

Sorry Zach, ZMF pairs very well with quite of few types of alcohol I enjoy.

I'm s couple weeks in now and still really enjoying the sound out of the Atrium. The Verite Open has been my favorite headphone since I picked it up and there really hasn't been anything that I enjoyed more in general (that I own can jam had some amazing setups!) but the Atrium is the first headphone where the first time I listened to it I felt the Verite Open had a challenge on it's hands. I think after a couple weeks it just confirms it I still really love both but I think the Atrium has edged it for the all arounder and the Verite more of a specialist when I want that last bit of speed and resolution.

Since I've owned the Open my favorite thing about them is that combination of speed with the weight to the notes and timbre and that is what the Atrium nails but on a different point of the spectrum it gives up some of the speed but the weight of the notes and timbre are just complete chefs kiss I don't know any other way to put it. I feel like headphones are really a game of balancing tradeoffs and the more headphones I hear from Zach the more impressed I am with how he balances the tradeoffs. A lot of other TOTL headphones seem to have a party trick that really sets them apart and impresses in quick AB comparisons but ZMF seems to consistently just impress me with how thoughtful all of those tradeoffs are balanced and how much I appreciate this over time. They don't have the biggest soundstage, the most linear response or the best bass but they just seem to always balance them all in a thoughtful way and in a lot of ways I feel like the Atrium is a refinement of this. It gives up some of the extreme speed of the Verite but the balance of sound out of it is really beautiful.

I also still have to listen to these out of a tube amp but I do really enjoy the sound of the Atrium out of SS I think they are really forgiving in the treble and then the dynamics and speed of SS and the black background with the staging of the Atrium really pair well. If the treble is uneven SS can push that over the edge and just drive it into your skull but with how smooth the Atrium are you can push the volume nicely without the treble drill and then these other benefits of SS sound great. Not downplaying the tube performance as I still have to hear it just feeling like out of my ZMF cans these seem to synergize really well with SS.

Really loving the sound of the bass out of this song on the Atrium but it takes about 2 min to kick in but it really impressed me not just the volume but the tone and way it could sustain bass notes I call it the river of bass effect but the Atrium just nails this in a way that I really love.

If you leave a note at checkout we do our very best to get close to what you might want (within reason). Like if you left a note that you do or don't want sap-wood, or prefer quartered or rift sawn look.

There are requests we can't accommodate, and we can never make any promises, but we do try.

In the future - for those who do really care a lot about the look of specific woods and such, we will try out a custom shop type ordering (which will cost more) where you get to pick your specific cups and have other aesthetic options. This is a ways off, and for now we will keep doing the limited and spec runs with special models as well as the stock woods.
Just to clarify, I'm not criticizing here in any way. You wouldn't have enough hours in the day to accommodate every person's custom requests and wishes and it's entirely impractical to run a business that way. My point is more that for some folks ZMF headphones are always going to be a little bit of a decision making quandary due to the nature of wood itself if those people happen to be particular about aesthetics or have their heart set on something specific.

I think the future custom shop would serve those needs perfectly.

I've had my "Paradox" Atrium from the hot cup summer sale for a couple weeks now but today I got a matching cable from @skedra which looks great. This is an 8 wire Fehu cable with Furutech connectors and a custom splitter designed to match the Atrium. Looks amazing in person. Here are some pictures of it:

As for the Atriums, this is my first ZMF but I have been enjoying the sound. They are super easy to listen to yet have an engaging presentation and aren't super tough on bad recordings. However they still resolve pretty well and have a nice and wide soundstage. To my ears they sound similar to the LCD-4 and the Borealis.

Late night listening to my Connemara Atrium and the lush amplification of 300B tubes...SUBLIME! I can't get enough of this album to showcase the Atrium's jazz capabilities.

…Roy Buchanan…
Roy Buchanon and Steve Kimock - Pre 2000. Plus Trey Anastasio and no list can be without Jerry. but, Rick Mitarotonda of Goose is off the charts good.

I can't imagine how well the Atrium sound on those tubes. I'm counting down the days until my Odyssey goes into the build queue. It will have a loop out so it'll be easy to compare against my WA22.

I'm curious what amp @zach915m uses when he's prototyping and tuning new models. I've listened to my Atrium's on my WA22 and GS-X Mk2 and it's a pretty big difference in terms of instrument layering and soundstage. Tubes win hands down.
