Wierd my aeolus ltd African blackwood from 2019 has more hole then usual 2 hole and 4 small ones

Mine had a few small holes like that as well, but in different positions. I believe when testing each set Zach makes any necessary modifications to get the sound he desires, so the holes could be random while tuning. Meaning there could be a lot of variation in the holes on each unit.

Wow never knew about that, then each aeolus pre-2020 is unique on thier own headphones in a way 😊

Just now experiencing a tube hp amp for the first time with Aeolus and…wow. The difference is stunning. I liked these headphones before but now I can’t put them down.

That’s the way to go with ZMF dynamics hp. I have the HA-6A and the combo is superb; even more so when you use NOS tubes.

At CanJam Dallas, I listened to Aeolus via the Feliks Envy, which on paper is a bit of a mismatch, being an $8000 amp. But there they were just sitting next to each other in the ZMF room. Couldn't believe how the Aeolus scaled up and sounded pretty amazing!

The Aeolus is really great. I sold mine and I regret doing so. Maybe someday I'll find myself another set.

Might have experienced the greatest light of my life, of my life! My mind was as altered as one can get, and Aeolus just added to that experience <3

There must be some mistake
I didn't mean to let them take away my soul
Am I too old, is it too late?
Where has the feeling gone?
Will I remember the songs?
The show must go on
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yesterday I spent some time with my Aeolus and with my VC using my set-up of an Aurender W20 into a SWX DACIIIB into my ARC Ref 6 into my Ampsandsound Nautilus.
The Aeolus may have been slighted with its "beginner's ZMF" designation but it happens to be a very enjoyable set of headphones irrespective of comparison. It is more lively and vibrant than the VC. Sure it lacks the deepest solid bass but so what? For me, thee is plenty of good enjoyable bass.

This might be my next purchase. I’m not much of a closed headphone guy, but I’m very intrigued by the Bokeh open.
Greetings haasaaroni. Has there been any new information out regarding the Open? I’m especially looking for sound impressions etc. Hoping this will be a less costly alternative to the Auteur I keep thinking about. Although, my Aeolus is sounding better and better to my ears…😉. I’m beginning to dislike this hobby/obsession…And love it at the same time.

Nice pics. Here are a few from when I lived and worked in Alaska. About 03:30 am😉
And btw, my Aeolus are becoming more and More enjoyable. I can’t explain it, the sound is just wonderfully produced. 😀

I have no info about the Bokeh Open, no. Zach said it’ll likely come out late summer, so I’m thinking of going to CanJam SoCal at the end of October and fingers crossed it’ll be ready by then!

But you can definitely find some awesome used Auteur Classics (and OG Auteurs) for sale here! It’s not as special as getting them from ZMF with your name on the owners card and lifetime warranty and everything, but they can be had for relatively cheap. I would imagine the Bokeh Open will be a different sonic direction, less focus on neutrality as the Auteurs seem to be.

I completely agree on the special transaction with ZMF. I can wait for the end of Summer, I hope. Wishfully expecting the Bokeh Open to have a little more neutral signature as this would be excellent. I can’t do closed headphones, too much pressure I think. But, otherwise I would have gone with the current closed bokeh…As for the Autuer, I’m trying to temper myself, the Aeolus is shining through for me and thoroughly enjoying them. Thx haassaroni I appreciate your support and advice. 😀

Which pads do you have on those Aeolus?
