If anyone wants a little DIY project with the stock 4 wire cable, you can remove two of them and reterminate and makes it much nicer of a stock cable.

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread

Obviously budget could be a determining factor here, as well as sound preference.Ok, next question Aeolus family.
Whats the best Solid State amps to pair with these?
Ta.
Many would likely say the ECP Ravenswood DSHA3F amp, but that's north of 2K (USD). I haven't heard Aeolus off of the ifi Black Label myself, but I am a fan of the ifi sound, the Pro iCAN is an awesome pairing, also not cheap. I've heard really good things about both the Gilmore Lite MK2 as well as the Asgard 3, though I haven't heard either amp myself.
If you have an amp you're thinking about let us know, there's almost always someone on Head-Fi that has heard the pairing...
Good luck!

I love 6SN7 compared to two other tubes which I have and don't know what they are. Just wanna try something different
Maybe he meant to say DAC
I have a first gen bifrost. I haven't had any other desktop amp/dac beside these two. Just a portable oppo two so not quit sure how good my dac and amp are.
I'm perfectly happy with all three. I'm just curios if the sound can even get better with the same can. Just too dumb to know where that improvement could come from.

After reading a bit about Aeolus, I imagine that iDSD BL would probably be a nice match for these cans. I haven't heard it though, so anyone in here has any experience with this setup?

Yep, they pair really well. I use mine exclusively with the iFi. 12 o’clock volume at the lowest power setting is enough for my ears! It makes me curious to what they’d sound like with the pro desktop.

I've never heard the Aeolus w/any iFi amp, though I did hear it w/7 or 8 other amps IMS.
@jinxy245 should weigh in here--he has the iFi Pro desktop & I'm pretty sure he loves it powering the Aeolus.
Yup that's what I said above there Frankenstein.I've never heard the Aeolus w/any iFi amp, though I did hear it w/7 or 8 other amps IMS.

Seriously, I do think it's a great pair. Aeolus needs no bass boost, and I don't even use the tube buffers...the sound is clean and draws me in fully. The Pro iCAN has plenty (plenty) of power on tap. I have absolutely no complaints.

Yes, if 12 o'clock gets you enough SPL, that's the sweet spot right there.

Even better
Pro iCAN is a different beast. It's not only more powerful, but due to all its options also substantially more versatile.
