But they do have 7f7 in stock right? All of them were made by Sylvania regardless of the branding. My copper post 7f7 have Sylvania, GM, and at least one other brand as well. I’ve seen Zenith branded ones too. If you’re not worried about the copper posts there are plenty of the regular versions around. I think all of them are very good so there’s very little risk in buying them since they are so cheap.
Ah, that's good to know. I thought it was Sylvania or bust. Appreciate that. I might circle back with the Surplus folks to see what they still have.

Eh, it's hard to know what kind you'll get based on brand. The only sure things I've seen for copper post are GM (not Delco) and Sylvania Hygrade. At $8 a piece I'd probably ask them for 5 different pairs and see what you get. Would be nice to get a spread to compare.

Despite all the 7F7 attention, I still like to stare at my 6SL7 and marvel at its warmth. Very unique looking metal plates and see through filament :)

EDIT: ... PS @Wes S, you really should try 'XLR' / 'HIGH'. The 85 ohm OI is wondrous with 300-ohm h/p.

EDIT II: This recording will 🥲 🤪:

Surplus has raised their prices. $39 for a pair from different vendors, $54 for a pair from same vendor.

Wowee. Luckily there are a lot of other dealers with them as well. I get not being willing to sort through tubes for $8 a pop. I do wonder how long they will sit on those at those prices. They probably do test them on their fancy tester at those prices if that’s important to you. Like I mentioned before, I’d just buy a handful from a dealer and ask that they come in pairs. Get them cheap.

Edit: I misread that. If those prices are for pairs that’s still pretty good especially with their testing. Yes, it is a premium but there won’t be any eBay drama or worries about the performance. $29 a pop for pair pricing is within reason IMO. Assuming they are doing the testing that is. Having said that I haven’t had any trouble with buying tubes without that kind of testing so 🤷‍♂️
