It’s called Zishan “DSD” for a reason. You are better off playing mp3s on your Smartphone. Not sure why anyone would want to purchase a high res player to play mp3s! It’s a total waste of money! (imo)

Except my zishan gets worrying hot if I try to play DSD on it and eats the battery like there's no tomorrow. Moreover I'm absolutely unconvinced of the benefit of PCM records sold into proprietary DSD format, as is the case for the vast majority of now extinct SACDs. I think the eartips on my IEMs or how deep I insert them make much more of a difference tbh :P

There are other reasons someone could want a standalone mp3 player :

Preserve smartphone battery
Jack output of phone is weak/has static noise/hiss
Phone has no jack at all

To name a few. I prefer my high bitrate mp3s on the zishan, especially with my headphone but also with iems as I get bad static noise on the smartphone (probably difficult to shield all those wireless chips) and it struggles a bit to power the headphones.

So imo it's a not a valid purchase only for DSD.

As depite being young I like robust stuff and don't care much for looks, I drive a '93 diesel (without turbo) mercedes that has extremely little that can go wrong, and if it does I fix it myself.

The zishan is kind of the same philosophy

Please educate yourself

Name your reason

Playing DSD is rather pointless you won't hear a difference. It's marketing for fools who think they have better ears than the rest of the world, and will circlejeck on how 1500$ silver cables compliment nicely DSD files while AIFF benefits from pure gold (wider, yellow soundstage).

But she got it right in the majority, so people with trained ears can tell the difference in the majority of the time, so someone like my wife (grew up in a balet family and listened to live classical all her life) who says she can feel a slight difference depending on the track, is a fool? Dude your on the wrong forum, telling audiophiles there wrong about what they hear, I don't get why you just have to keep going with it, ok so you can't tell a difference, great

I can tell a difference between mp3 and flacs, and dsd does sound different too, if you can't tell the difference, why bother people who can? The girl in your video could in the majority of the time, but I guess you believe she is a fool too?

So why do you want to buy a dsd player if you only want to use mp3 and believe everyone should listen to mp3?

There are alot of really great players for mp3 and they are cheaper too

And I tried to use rockbox on my wife's dx50, but you can call me crazy because I like zishans simply ui over rockbox UI
So if you want to get it, great, you can do whatever you want but why stand on a soap box and preach like crazy, this thread isn't about whether mp3 is better then dsd, it's about a zishan t1, that gives you the option to enjoy this and that.

But headfi is not that majority, it's mainly the minority who understand and hear the difference and are looking for there dream setup

Do you guys know how to source screens for this kind of player?

Keep wondering if it will stop responding like the v3

Guys guys, chill out. Don't argue here. You should start PM on both of ya. This thread is for sharing information (and will share reviews) about ZiShan T1, not for arguing. I mean, I understand that you don't agree with citral, and citral also makes your opinions like joke, etc. But come on, you should respect others opinions. That's what one of the head-fi rules about, you have read it right? Come on, be a grown man. Peace ✌

Sorry, your right.
I will go back and remove some of that, not to junk up your thread

That's what I've been thinking also. The V3 is killing the brand. That's why walnut making the F2. Cheap build quality (IMO), great performance (with 2.5mm balance).

But, I've been using zishan for about 5 months and it hasn't disappoint me . I'll let you know when my T1 is arrived, so standby.

By the way, thanks guys, I really appreciate it. This isn't my thread, this is for all of us who wants the T1. I will remove this soon
Yeah, I didn't want to compare it to the v3, but so many people have that it makes me wonder.
I mean I know walnut and zishan are different makers but I believe they get there parts through similar channels, either way I hope it works out well, for all of us, I love my zishan dsd's they are better then alot of players 2-3 times the price (aslong as you don't mind the lack of styling and extremely simple UI, and all the Bluetooth, wifi, internet blah blah blah) and I really like how easy it is to mod them
I got one almost stock (burson v5i everything else stock)the other is almost unrecognizable(2xad8620, opa1622, and huge batteries so I can go 2 work days non stop without charging)
I hope this will take the torch, and I am still surprised they update more then fiio does

I'm interested in this.
I'm not frightened of the screen.
I'm still grieving for my beloved Cowon D2 which I used until it literally fell to pieces. I still fire it up from time to time. You never get over your first.

Batter life doesn't worry me either because I mostly listen at work while at my desk with the player on charge.

I've got a Z1 and I love the sound but I will never get another headless player.
I will also never get another player where you have to take the memory card out before you can amend any files.

I really don't want to be breaking a card reader by changing cards 4 or 5 times a day.

It is not clear from the info available whether this can be used as a usb drive so I would have to know that before committing.

I will hang off for a while anyway until the software has been debugged and a few more questions answered.
I got tired of being an unpaid Beta tester for buggy software that never got good enough (Fiio)
I really see resume and bookmarking as being my minimum requirements in any software.

If it sounds anywhere near as good as my Z1, and I'm sure it will, I'll be very happy to buy one and enjoy for years.

I'm expecting a minor promotion so this modest purchase would be a suitably modest purchase.

As for you two valued contributors above.
I agree with one of you but won't say which.
You both need to calm down and stop feeding the trolls.
You both think that the other one is the troll but I'm not picking sides.
This thread isn't the place to be discussing this sort of thing, particularly so venomously.
Discuss it elsewhere by setting up a bare knuckle thread somewhere else.

Let's have a hug.

I see Head-Fi as a support group for my Chi-fi addiction not a cockfighting ring.

I'm redoing the test (https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2015/06/02/411473508/how-well-can-you-hear-audio-quality) once per day and get better results every day (it's randomized so no cheating).

So everyone will be happy to know that I admit there's a difference that you can hear when you train, and know what to look for (but probably won't if you're not looking for it), and everyone can decide for themselves if it's worth it in terms of space and battery usage.

I hope this topic, that was already sorted, won't have anymore annoying old uncles coming hours after the fight occured to show us their big authority. It's internet, people have opinions, arguments happen.

As I understand the T1 does not support file transfer via USB for now unfortunately :(

Citral, don't prolong the problem, please. We should have peace to each other. Let's keep this thread safe and comfortable to anyone.
.
Speaking of USB on T1, I think it does support as portable media transfer (This can be false, unless I try it in the T1 that I ordered. So stand by .

EDIT: Unfortunately, my trusted source just told me that T1 doesn't yet support portable media transfer, so @chasolla, sorry, you still have to use SD card adapter. But hopefully, ZiShan will change it in the future, fingers crossed.
