ZhiYin QT5 4BA + 1DD Impressions Thread

I noticed on my pair that when I block the vents at the back, it reduces the dynamic driver's output significantly and the overall sound becomes noticeably clearer and flatter. Could it be the case that this vent size is varying among the units? Judging by how it sounds with the vents blocked, I suspect even a small change in the vent size is going to have significant impact on the sound.

Interesting thought. I was blown away by how much the sound changed when that vent gets blocked. Never heard an IEM so affected by that.

Well, if nothing else, this has been a very interesting thread.  And I`ve taken away two side effects:

The Sirius has become extremely interesting, and
The DN-4001 is back on my to-get list

not to be OT, but i think its already been announced so I can mention it, but the DN4001 is gonna get a special edition ala FiiO, with help of a FiiO X7 amp module. They said as much anyway.

It's not inauthentic, it's exactly what I heard and felt, and I'm not the only one. I have listened to hundreds of IEMs so I have a decent idea of what I'm doing, my sound signature preferences, and what to look for.

I also know that I a/b'ed Seesax's pair it and doesn't sound the same as mine, plus I also sent my pair to someone else to listen. I've also recommended for people to hold off right now to find out what's going on, because there seem to be a lot of variances and possibly defective pairs. Why would I do that if I was being inauthentic?

Please provide more information, because someone was just banned for being unethical in their reviews (which had visual and logged evidence), and you have 1 post.

I am not being support somebody it is just a question.
I can't understand Why someone (P) banned just for writing a review and exposed some weakness of a product Ok may be that was not the 100% true but I think everybody have their fundamental right to express their opinion without any fears,

It's not something to discuss in the forum, but it wasn't because of the QT5 review. You can PM me.

As B said, it wasn't the review. Brooko already stated that. Also, Brooko gave his impressions in this thread which were also not favorable to them

Really enjoy drinking the morning coffee while reading the overnight posts in this thread! An not worried about my QT5s being damaged in transit as I highly doubt it. As a few have pointed out and after reading a PM from Brooko it all comes down to YOUR own experience and what you hear and what I hear from my pair is fantastic ! :beerchug:

Curiously how much do you invest for QT5?

Another update - been PM'd another graph (so that's 4 I have now) where the frequency response is the same as the pair I have from AudioDHD.

I think this tends to remove the idea that these are broken - it is the intended tuning

To those questioning the two positive reviews left by bhazard and FUYU - please don't make any accusations. You haven't heard their pairs - and even if they are the same, and they like them - that is what a review is - someone's opinion of a product.  Just because I happen to think the product is not well tuned does not mean that my view is the universal one.  What it does mean is that I would suggest some caution before you order them.

If anyone follows my reviews and has similar tastes to mine - I would suggest passing on the QT5.  I can't guarantee it - but I can suggest you will be disappointed.

I will ask to see if I can post a couple of the other graphs I have - but need to check with the people who sent them to me.  In the meantime - please can we cool it on any and all accusations of bias etc. Whilst I don't know FUYU, I've followed bhazards reviews, and whilst we often don't see eye-to-eye on particular products (from a review stand point - just means different preferences), I would never question his motives or the honesty of his reviews.  Being a reviewer is hard - and we can only report on what we hear and how it is perceived by us.

Cheers

Have you listened to them more? Am Enjoying the U6s .. they are an excellent example of a reference IEM, seperation and detail.. wide frontal soundstage , great presentation. :smile_phones:

Am becoming a believer in how the material of the housing effects driver resonance , would be very curious to hear the components from this IEM in a metal housing..

Yes - I gave them another hour - and I'm going to force myself to give them enough time again tomorrow to write a small impression/review.  It would eb fair to say that they have not grown on me. Unfortunately I really think Zhiyin really need to go back to the drawing board to get the tuning right. Its a classic case where just shoving together 5 drivers into a hybrid does not make a flagship earphone.  I'll try to be gentle.

It would be great if the outcome was YhinZin making an improved unit with better tuning and no mountain of mid bass muddyness and "sucked out mids" as youve shown . Even this being the case I really enjoy their signature but will see if anythings changed now that my ears have been reset . It would be amusing if another moderator listened to them and came away agreeing with reviews by Fuyu, bhazard and Paulus . In the meantime happy suffering m8 , hope its not too painful !

 - the fact I'm a Moderator lends no weight at all - either way.

And I'm just one data point.  I would in fact love to see more impressions being posted, as when a headphone or IEM has polarising but opposite reviews, it just lets prospective buyers become more informed.  People who follow Paulus or bhazard and have similar tastes to them may very well love the QT5.

But I can only report based on what I've heard and measured. And TBH the measurements actually back up the sonic impressions.  I don't imagine too many people who use a lot of IEMs and know a bit about frequency curves would find this signature appealing.  But again - I am simply one data point.

How you compar the soundstage of UE6 vs QT5 .

UE6 soundstage sounds forward to the front to me , some holographic plus wide and nicely projected, everything is placed exactly where it should be with excellent detail. QT5s soundstage for me at least is like having a massive sound chamber in your head theres a resonance to them possibly due to those drivers cramed inside that stainless steel housing that reminds me of warmish Solid state amp. The U6 is more coherent and nuetral to just slightly warm and gives me a sonic impression more like a finely tuned solid state amp.. IMO everything is there but could use more soul.. :L3000:
