This will be tough.

As of today, I'll say

1. Knife: Silent Shout
2. Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral
3. Autechre: Incunabula
4. Front Line Assembly: Tactical Neural Implant
5. Front Line Assembly: Civilization

i just "discovered" The Knife on my ipod a few days ago when i had it on shuffle. very interesting stuff! i like the weird vocoded lyrics and dark sound.

as for my albums, i'm looking for new electronica all the time. particularly house...suggestions anyone? the list:

rich and lustmord: Stalker
LCD Soundsystem: LCD Soundsystem
Aphex Twin: AAW 85-92
Boards of Canada: Music has the right to children
Ratatat: Classics (i guess; not much variety, but it's fun)

I went through all the posts and saw some of my favorites I would modify and add some additions:

Jean-Michelle Jarre: ANY CD or DVD of his
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer: Brain Salad Surgery
Vangelis: ANY cd
Styx: Grand Illusion has some really good keyboard work
Yes: Its hard to pick just one but look for Rick Wakeman on Keyboard
Kintaro: Look for samples to see what you like

Just a few of my suggestions, Brain Salad Surgery is one of my All time favorite albums and really has some stuff on it that will never fade.
Lots of good stuff already mentioned that I will not repeat.

5. Northern Exposure (North)-Sasha & John Digweed
4. Judgment - VNV Nation
3. Praise the Fallen - VNV Nation
2. Future Perfect - VNV Nation
1. Matter + Form - VNV Nation

Not a lot of variation, I know.

What can I say- most of the Electronic artists I listen to are fly-by-night Goa trance projects. Keeping track of individual artists in that environment is nearly impossible.

And I really like VNV Nation.

These are just favorites, not necessarily the "best ever," though of course in the case of Shpongle, they are.

1. Shpongle - Tales of the Inexpressible.
2. Shpongle - Are You Shpongled?
3. Amethystium - Apheleon.
4. Maneesh De Moor - Sadhana.
5. Bahramji and Maneesh de Moor - Call of the Mystic.

I'll be damned if I know what genre they belong to. Amethystium is largely influenced by Karma-era Delerium, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream; Maneesh de Moor has a lot of influences from Future Sound of London mixed with a healthy dose of all things ethnic/tribal; and Shpongle seem to be primarily influenced by LSD, DMT, and psilocybin.

If you havn't yet check out the other albums by amethystium, their all pretty amazing.
