Your current stash, what are your reference cans?

I don't know what I would bring. I have a feeling I would get bored with it.

I've got the color reference phone though..

Grado RS-1, no matter which others I try for a while, I always come back to these. Especially with the upgraded Raptor.

HD600

The RS-1 does not change as much when I change equipment, so I'd definitly take the sennheisers.

Same here, the HD600 will let you know the strengths and weaknesses of what ever you are listening to.

Right now I would have to go with the my 595s. Of all of my current headphones to my ears they are the most neutral and the easiest to relate differences to. The 225s are technically superior in some respects but I would be afraid their coloration/presentation could mask a weakness in the amp that might be irritating when matched with future headphone purchases (which of course are inevitable

I never heard an Audio-Technica before, what would you compare it's sound sig to? If they are very well detailed cans, then I'm going to have to have a go at it, but not the L3000, just yet

You'd really have to have a low and high-impedance phone. If I could have only one, I'd take the DT880. It's very capable, and a bit less forgiving than the HD650. The "problem" with the HD650 is that it sounds quite nice whatever you throw at it. Using the SA5000 would be deeply misguided due to it's relative incapability.

I would never use an IEM as a reference phone.

I do not have that big a "stash", but the 595s are much more neutral than my 280s or e4s. When amped with a SR-71, they resolve such a wide range of frequencies that I use that combination as my reference and then listen with the IEMs.

I'd have difficulty picking only one. I love my 325i's, but they are too harsh to listen to all the time. My HD600's are too boring to listen to rock IMO, but I love them for classical and Jazz.

I would relaly like to hear some 501's or DT880's.
