So now looking for the best distro with a well configured tablet mode out of the box. Trying the deepin linux now. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

PS: Wondering...can I run macOS / hackintosh on it? :)

Maybe you can use Audiophile Linux and change from the default wm to one that supports touch and tablet mode. It's based on Arch which I love. https://www.ap-linux.com

I found out that MPD (Music Player Daemon) supports both native and DoP DSD playback. It is a server application which can be controlled over network:
Yeah, I read about it too and even installed it on Linux Mint 20.1 but did not manage to configure it properly yet(
As for media center Linux distros, there are few options with Album Player on the official page. You can try some of them, they seem to be small and minimalistic

Thanks. I am currently trying brunch / ChromeOS. I will check it.

Oh, OK. I thought you are talking about this one. Thanks.

Hmm, did not know there was another Album player, or rather Albumplayer out there:) However, the one you refer to is more of a media player with bells and whistles, not even sure if it is DSD-capable. The Album Player (APlayer) by Igor Antonov is more audiophile, I think

Is Chromeos good for playing music?

Think of it like a Linux and Android mix. For example I was able to install the Neutron Player and foobar2000 on it, As I understand, you can also install native Linux software but I didn't try. But I couldn't make the DSD playback work.

@DarginMahkum

How do you like W1 sound compared to other DAPs?

Btw., if you can boot W1 from USB drive you could try one if these bootable images http://albumplayer.ru/linux/english.html

I was a bit busy and didn't check it much. I found out that the internal wireless module is a RTL8821CU which is not part of the kernel tree but there is a driver for it. I wanted to try that next and then I will check the images.

Also I didn't check the sound much yet :) But it is a powerful full sound. I will hopefully come back to it again this week.

Shortly about the sound. Goood capabilities, but a little bit on the thicker side for my liking - but here of course no problem! Just a little bit of EQ (-0.7db for 300 - 600 Hz, +0,7 dB for 3-6 kHz region, more to do with my T+A Solitaire P headphone which has leaner upper mids than the player) and it sounds beautiful!

So far WIFI, bluetooth, rotation (90 degree off, though), suspend, screen blanking and touch screen works. I installed Ubuntu 21.04 daily image. Still problems with touch screen keyboard but yeah, it will take some time, I guess, to deal with all the quirks.

DSD is pending. I will deal with it as the last thing. But it already works with HQPlayer.

I will try to make a video this week to show the current status.
