The UD-501 was one of the worst DAC purchases I've ever made. It was worse than the ODAC.

Looks like my Yggdrasil order shipped. I should have it by Thursday. I'll burn it in for a week and start impressions next week!

What didn't you like about the TEAC? I'm in the market for a new DAC and I'm turning over every leaf.

Hey, I'm finally about to buy an HD 800!

(But I will have to wait awhile before I can afford the Rag and Yggy.)

I remember you talking about how you thought the HD 800 was better than the Abyss, at least in some ways.

I own both and I'm keeping both but the HD800 is my preferred headphone.

It takes all music and makes it sound dead, DSD or PCM. Completely kills dynamics, lacks resolution, and just sounds bad bad. I'm serious when I say the ODAC is better. It takes any recording and seems to kill all dimensionality. Bass lacks slam, top end lacks air, it's just bad.

Ah, I was one click from ordering this, but no, not quite yet. I have too much other new equipment to assimilate. (Speaker rig.) I can only appreciate so many changes at once.

However, I am buying the required balanced ICs from Infinite Cables when I visit Canada in a few days. So trending...  :)

From the beginnings of Yggdrasil to the apocalypse of Ragnarok, we ascend to Asgard and march to dine in the glorious halls of Valhalla in the company of Odin!

Odin Confirmed!
You forgot "we cross the bifrost"

Wow that's pretty harsh. Did yours fall off the back of a truck?

How do you describe the synergy between the UD-501 and HA-501?  I have the HA-501 amp and think it's a real firecracker.

That's what I call getting "bang for your buck"

Ha, LOL. I'm surprised the amp doesn't get more attention around here. It's well built and disappears from the chain.

The Teac stack is rock solid and deserves more attention IMO. I haven't had them very long (almost a week) but I can tell you already that the UD-501 paired with the HA-501 is really something to behold - especially considering there's a $150 rebate for each of them right now!
