It looks like they come pre-installed!

Super-bizarre design. I hope it at least sounds good.
My bad joke ...

Looks like a transformer? or heat sink? or cooling tower ...?

new info from the headphones fes today (collected from Japanese twitter):
- The price will be similar or somehow cheaper than YH-5000SE
- Left box is a power unit. The cylinders are troidal transforms. Two boxes are NOT separatabele because of power line design.
- DAC: Single ESS 9038PRO, up to PCM 384kHz/32bit, DSD 11.2MHz(dual-chip was rejected through testing because outputs of two chips do not mach precisely)
- Output power 1,000mW + 1,000mW (32Ω 1%)
- Line out (RCA and XLR)
- Input: usb, coaxial, optical, analogue RCA (No bluetooth, wifi, LAN)
- Double layerd substrates inside the right box. Analogue circuit substrate boad on digital one.
- The body is made from aluminum
- The project began 2019 during development of YH-5000SE
- DAC-amp combo was chosen instead of pure analogue amp because Yamaha is new to headphone amp. They will watch market response to this versatile gear and consider next product strategy.
- The development team members are relatively young generation (30s - 40s) like thr YH-5000SE team
- Launch will be end of 2023 to spring of 2024

The YH500SE is not completed right, then need another wait for about six months to make it a bit better with DSP ..... YH5000Se sales will slow down till the amp came out .... what is the point of a headphone at this price range if it doen't work well on other amp(s)? may be even not good with its own?

Looks pretty good tbh… A nice combination of design and functions. Toroidals in a separate box + 4.4mm are the two big pluses for me.
Hope I can have a listen sometime… photo from a friend in Japan.

I have edited above post several times when I found additional info. No more revision after now. I may translate impressions in Japanese SNS next week.
