This makes me wonder if my device is defective, the noise is disturbing in a quiet room even with a Sony XBA-Z5
Noise in what regard? Are you hearing background noise / hiss when there's no track playing? What are you using as a source? How is it connected?

As far as I'm aware, your XBA-Z5s (107dB/mW) are a little less sensitive than my V16s (112dB/mW), so should behave similarly. I'll admit my hearing isn't the best these days, but I hear nothing from V16 in Eco mode with the volume dialled all the way to 99.

Yes, hissing. Indeed, I compared the sensitivity of our iems and found it strange.
The only thing that affects the noise is the SE or BAL connection, in the latter case it is louder.
I also hear it on Nicehck F1 pro (planar iem), Kiwi Quintet, Snowy A8 (115 db/mW 12ohm), no problems with full-size Onkyo A800 100 sens 32ohm, Moondrop Venus.
Gain, volume, power supply (battery, power bank, mean well 12v), source (BT/Optical/USB) - have no effect.
I have pretty good hearing (young), it's not a big problem outside the home as ambient noise masks it, but since I usually use it at home where it's pretty quiet, it becomes audible in pauses between instruments or quiet parts of the music.
So I bought ifi iematch and it solved my problem, but I would like to use xd05 without it.

I cut off the silver pins on the corner of the op amps with a wire cutter, so I didn't use dip8 risers.

How is the Sparkos SS3602 supposed to sound when it's synergizing with your headphones?

On the Prestige LTD, I feel it's suppressing the brightness in the songs I listen to. I also feel like the bass is subdued. But this is all first impression. I'll listen to it again later to reevaluate. And I'll probably try switching back and forth with the stock amps for comparison.
This doesn't sound right. On the Prestige LTD if anything, it all was improved. Smoother yet more extended treble. Bass texturing and impact was improved. Much more air around instruments and vocals, soundstage increases with extremely pin point imaging. Depth is improved and theres great clarity on vocals and the biggest difference is the speed. It all sounds snappy and quick. No muffle anywhere. Details are crystal clear

The r2r dac board has so many resistors, I would guess that is at least 24bits if not more.
Isn't that the design of R2R ladder DACs though? I'm impressed xDuoo has managed to design an R2R module that fits on the board, tbh.

Xduoo already planned R2R DAC module even before they announced XD05 Pro. They had that consideration in mind with that implementation.

I finally managed to modify my board so that both the dip8 socket is at the back of the board.

Plus I’ve put in dip socket for the capacitor for easy capacitor changing. (Although I still don’t know what does changing the capacitor do yet, figuring since I’m soldering and desoldering might as well).

The whole unit looks cleaner now when sitting on the desk. I do use a phone/tablet stand for the unit so I can still see the screen when leaving the opamp door open.

Now my dilemma is whether to buy the Burson V7s or the Sparkos SS3602. Still can’t decide yet.

I just don't understad why Xduoo is still not intersted to produce similar alternative design op-amp board to purchase separately, with op-amps connection placement on top. It would be a great addition to XD05PRO as an extremely useful accessory for me personally.

i bet that not even 1/3rd of the buyers will change opamps, so it wouldnt be the best business model for xduoo i guess
