LMAO i have this horrible habit of typing super fast on the phone and not double checking anything. I blame it entirely on years and years of BlackBerry use with those real keyboards...

And here I thought you had been drinking.  LOL

I think it's unlikely to buy the old version now, unless you want to buy a second-hand one. The old version is long gone.

I give you some links:

http://penonaudio.com/xDUOO-ALL-MODELS/xDuoo-X3
http://www.gearbest.com/mp3-mp4-players/pp_440370.html?wid=21

The first two sellers are OK. Gearbest seems have the lowest price, but I don't have any experience on this site.

Nice deal! From the picture, it's the new version. It has "Back" instead of "Esc".

@Holypal  thanks heaps for confirming any newly purchased unit would probably be a V2...  assuring to know. Also, you mentioned new version has BACK instead of ESC...  so i guess i'd use that as a sure shot indication!  thanks again

do you think the silver version here http://www.tomtop.com/other-multi-media-video-player-1319/p-v1584s.html might be the old version? i wasn't aware an "old" version existed until @rarara brought it up, and i was thinking to get the silver version from tomtop. shipped from the UK it seems like a really good deal at $76, and there's also a VE5OFF coupon that brings the price further down. but now i'm concerned about this old / new version thing...

bought that silver one from tomtop, UK shipped, 1.5 months ago.
it's exactly like a black one bought in aliexpress in March. same button legends. i've not opened them, but i think they have same battery, 1500mAh (after setting that capacity in rockbox, the battery indicator is accurate; tried 2000mAh setting, and the indicator didn't match the real charge of the battery).
the old black one gets a bit warmer, its screen has some horizontal offset (about 5 pixels), and the buttons rattle is a bit louder. so i'm happy enough with the tomtop silver one.
being rockboxable, sound quality, power, buttons, and double microsd, compensate the low build quality.

I bought mine from Aliexpress months ago and it was an early 2016 revision with the larger battery.

I'm trying to clear DAP space for the X10 personally. I like Xduoo a lot but I have other CS4399 devices and it's a great chip for sure but it's no ESS/Sabre/AKM.

Is there a way to understand the mA capacity? I removed the bottom cover but there is not any indication on the battery...

If yours is the latest version then the battery capacity is 2000mah. The old version has 1500mah battery inside.

My X3 arrived 4 days ago from Amazon but I cannot say if this device is from the latest version. Is there something that can suggest this?

If there is home/back button on the right upper side then yours is the latest version. Yours should be the latest one if it came 4 days ago from Amazon.

I made an account solely for this post.

I bought the Xduoo X3 from ebay for 97.20$ , sadly the product that arrived is defective , The battery is very poor , it can't even sustain 3 hours ,

But there is a bigger problem , there is a problem with the player ,  It makes weird noise , like buzzing noise.

I already received full refund from ebay but I can't understand how the other 70 people that bought it didn't have problems.

For anyone interested in viewing the noise I'm talking about , I provided a link to Google Drive.

If anyone has this problem and knows how it can be fixed or anything can be done with it , please reply to me.

Thanks.
