  RB simulator already working:

Ok, that's awesome. My rockbox'd clip zip kicked the bucket a while ago. I loved the rockbox functionality. I then moved onto the Colorfly C3 and Xuelin 770 which have somewhat archaic UI's.

So the fact that this X3 puppy is now going to be rockboxed (which presumably will fix the playback speed issue) has got it firmly back on my radar. I know that it might not sound as good or any better than my 770, but there are so many awesome features in this X3 for the price, it's very tempting.

Wow, imagine being able to use playlists again!...

happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy =D you rock my box XVortex!!!    going songs back in shuffle mode, gapless, playlists, replaygain, para eq, and so many other good features!! thx dude!

That's interesting... I wonder tho, just because RB is being ported does that mean it can support all the RB features? I mean... this DAP has no support for m3u file lists, or EQ, does that mean things will be possible once Rockboxed, or does it mean only somethings are possible?

Hey Guys, I see that Banggood has this for 110 usd with free KZ E9s. Is the website proven to be safe and responsive to it's customers' woes if any? Also, any idea if customs charges will apply? How are these international deliveries usually paid for at customs stage?

  Why not better than 770?

Yea, why not? Could you compare the SQ or 770 with X3 and Sansa? I haven't found many comparos with 770.

I don't know personally, but was just basing this of @dharmasteve 's impressions here:

That's where I got mine when they ran an e-mail special back in late November.  Shipping time was 20 days total to me with no US customs charged.

will the low rez screen be able to fully support rockbox interface?

Gents,

I think we're getting way ahead of things here.  Let the development team do its work and we'll see how things turn out.   You might also want to take a few minutes to look through both the official Rockbox site and the Wikipedia one to get a better feel for what is possible / probable.  Personally I became much more optimistic after doing my due diligence

EQ and playlists can all be handled in software - the X3's SoC is much more powerful than the one in the Sansa Clip, which has those. If a port does finally happen I wouldn't be surprised if not everything works on the first few versions, but once they have it playing music everything else is just a matter of time and refinement.

The X3's small screen will never be suitable for showing album art, and it's monchrome anyway. You should expect to get a lot of scrolling, but it should be possible to put everything important in there.

First steps on real device. LCD works now!

I want to clear some things - I not belong to RB team (at least for now). They are on their own. Amaury Pouly start FiiO X1 port, he's on early research and CPU studying stage.
I'm the system programmer, doing this port for fun and at spare time. My main DAP is FiiO X5-II, but xDuoo X3 is amazing for developing and fun.
128x64 OLED LCD is OK because Sansa Clip(+) has same resolution display and it has best RB support.

If you don't mind my asking (and I'll understand if you don't answer), when you say "I'm the system programmer" who are you saying you're the system programmer for?

you are doing a great job, the first one that got Rockbox in a way working on the xDuoo X3. So thumbs up for that!
Second, to my knowledge Rockbox is not specifically a team but more of a community that picks up on hardware randomly when available and then start developing. In that sense I guess you are part of the RB team after all :-)

As you might have read you (and your fellow developers) will make many fans happy Rockboxing the xDuoo X3...

I'm quite curious how my ZN1 Mini will sound on the X3. Is on its way from China :-)
My collection of head-fi hardware is increasing in an almost unacceptable pace....

Considering that the Xduoo X3 is a great sounding DAP I have no doubt that it will be also a great match with your ZN mini. ;)
