Hello blackriver,

You'd be surprised regarding the iPod replacement target thing...

And I agree that those are the two things we should be working on. :xf_eek:

Best regards,
Joe (FiiO)

Thank you Joe for your messages. I'm also very excited to see next improvements on the user interface to reach the amazing level of the audio quality that please me every day , especially by the possibility to add tracks to current listening playlist and to browse by first letter.

Please fix the Coax out.  There's something wrong with the implementation at present: data's definitely being lost.  I've confirmed 100% it's not my DAC or cable.  The coax out function simply didn't work at all until I downloaded the latest beta firmware 1.1.  Now that it does basically work, the software needs to be tweaked.

I'm probably an unusual customer, buying the unit just for the coax out.  But setting aside that issue--that the one feature I want doesn't currently work well enough that I can use it--I'd like to say how impressed I am with the player.  The design, the packaging (I'm glad Fiio appears to be taking a cue from Apple on packaging), the cover, and the sound (absent coax) are all very impressive.  I find the UI pretty intuitive for the most part.  It's a great player.

Are you aware that the coax out just works when the headphone is unplugged (and vice-versa)? With firmware 1.1 the EQ is disabled through coax and line out, with firmware 1.11 beta this restriction is removed.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm not using the coax in conjunction with the headphones (that'd kind of defeat the purpose of coaxial out).  Something is definitely wrong with the coax out using the 1.11 beta.  I haven't installed 1.1 (I assume that's included with 1.11?)  When I first opened the unit, I couldn't get the coax to transmit a signal at all--not until the firmware update.  With the update, the quality of the data stream is bad.

You're probably not so unusual a customer, as I use my X5 almost exclusively as a digital drive to feed my DAC. Whereas the X3 II is my portable player. But for testing purposes I tried the coax out, and in my case it's flawless. Also, I can't see how a digital signal can be/sound bad (save for interferences). With reference to the digital out not working with the original firmware: I strongly suppose that you have overlooked the corresponding setting. You have to switch between line out and coax out. Possibly the firmware update has done the switching.

I'm a new Fiio X3 2nd Gen owner so apologies if this has been mentioned before. I love the player but some aspects of the GUI need to be looked at. In particular the text overlaying the album artwork. The text just doesn't show up very well. I'd prefer the text over a solid colour (black on white?) in a box overlaying the artwork, or a vertical screen split with the track info on one side and the album artwork on the other.

I'd also second the earlier request for an adjustable font size - some of us are getting old and have eyesight problems...

Hi Joe,

Can we have more custom EQ in the next FW update? Thanks.

Hey zees,

In case you haven't noticed, all EQ presets (other than "off") can be customized in the same way as the "custom" EQ :)

Best,
Joe

i was aware of the need to switch between line out and coax. I probably nearly broke the option before the firmware came out. That's not the problem. The coax out didn't work before the beta firmware; it did after.

What coaxial adapter were you / are you using with the X3 2nd? The included adapter has a TRRS 4-pole configuration that was essential for operation of the coaxial output as of FW1.1.
