Ok ✅
Where online?
eBay: especially eBay.com (the US site), eBay.de (the German site) and eBay.uk (the British site).

On the German site you can use Google Translate to read the item description from German and to write (especially out of courtesy, since most of the German people speak and understand English) and will answer you anyway.
Although most of the stated shipping options are Germany and/or Germany+EU, many will eventually ship worldwide if asked.

Hello,

Has anybody owned/listened to the HD545 Reference? Any impressions?
It stood on the seam line between the HD540 and HD580 generations. And it was still named "Reference"...
Was it "The Last of the Mohicans" or the First of the "Pale Faces"?

Hello to all, I'm french so please excuse my english.
Happy owner of a HD540 reference I 600 ohms for about 35 years, it is with great interest that I discovered this thread that I have browsed in its entirety for a few days (being French I took some time). I learned a lot about these headphones that I love for so long. I had never compared it to high end headphones but I understood that it would be difficult for me to find better headphones without putting a lot of money into it. With the help of the thread I started a restoration of my headphones. I have changed the back foams, the cable and I am waiting for the pads that I ordered. I have a question concerning the foam inside the back of the drivers, this grey foam has dried but I don't dare to remove it with tweezers for fear that it will turn into dust. Is it better to leave it like that, to remove it completely or to replace it and how. This subject is not much discussed in the thread and I would be curious to know what the HD540 specialists of this thread did on their headphones with tis foam. Thank you to all...

In post 3258 is what i used ( to me is the same foam as in the center driver one).
Use it ONLY if it is not crumbling. If it is, i suggest another foam type taken from pads, 4mm thick.
If You notice that is crumbling, i suggest to replace it as soon as possible because it gets into the driver ( on mine i have pieces that are stuck on the inner dome and there is nothing one can do to remove them, shaking is not moving them and the membrane is so fragile that the only risk is to loose a driver messing with it )
Keep the capsule horizontal when performing the change, working from the bottom, so that pieces don't fall in

Thank you for your answer, I had missed your post on this subject. I'll have a look at the condition of the foam and its dimensions for a possible replacement. But the access to this foam disk seems very delicate from the back. Is it necessary to disassemble the pilot and if so how? Is there a risk for the pilot ? Thanks for your help...

I have a pair of HD 545 and HD565. Both are 150 Ohm and the only real difference between the 2 is the 545 has plastic grills in the capsules and the 565 have a metal mesh screen. They are very nice sounding but still not at the same level as the HD540.

Hi!
Have you ever heard the gold version?
If yes, how would it compare to the 600 ohm reference 1 version?
