So a little background

I have never used a pair of "headphones", just gaming headphones used as headphones

The only pair i've used is a pair of Sony MDX-V6 or whatever they are that my dad purchased in like 1995.

What I use right now is my A40's without my mixamp (my laptop doesnt support the mixamp), and my 4 year old Klipsch S4i

I have no idea what soundstage i want since i dont know anything about any of that.

I listen to metal/rock/hardcore/"screamo" with the random Kid Ink/MGK/Wiz Khalifa rap song in between every now and then

I've scrapped the idea of the 598's and am looking at the DT 990 Pro 250 Ohms

I KNOW I'm getting the Magni/Modi combo, but my concern with the 990s is sound leaking (i listen to music fairly loud sometimes, until like 2-4am), but no one is in my room with me that late, but if the music volume i listen to makes the headphones sound like they're not even there and im just using the laptop speakers, theres no point of me getting Open headphones

Im also not a basshead, i dont listen to heavy rap or EDM music, but i do like a little bass becauase my music i listen to is constant fast pedaling/double pedaling from drums, but i dont want overwhelming.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Just got info from a friend that DT 990's are "V-Shape sound", and I have no idea what that means but he said its something "you gotta know that you want in a headphone"

DT990 got bass but without being overwelming.

i told my buddy "i dont want it to sound like im sitting in my cars trunk with 2 12's in it."

so would i be fine there?

ive never used a good pair of headphones, so im very picky/cautious when spending ~$400 on this hobby to start out :P

DT990s are not basshead cans so you should be fine :) Just make sure to give them prober amping.

i know 100% im getting the Modi/Magni (maybe the 2nd versions but ive heard theres litteraly no difference)

And when I say i dont like bass, thats a lie, its just i dont listen to ALL bass, but i do like a little when a bassy song comes on

There are somewhat significant differences with the new Magni 2/Uber, but very little differences between Modis.

Here's a little tip: you need to listen for yourself (instead of others) to determine how much bass you want in headphones.

Then they should be perfect for you. Looks like a solid setup.

No where near me to try headphones out :(

I usually just plug in and press play lol, never bothered to research trebles/mids/lows/highs/ etc etc

i wouldnt be getting the Uber Versions, just the modi/magni 1 or 2

the Modi Magni 1 on amazon is $89 each, and the Modi Magni 2s are $99 each on Schiits website

You could also try to order the DT990 from amazon.de and if you don't like them return them - they have great return policy. Although from your description I think they would suit you.

That's fine. If you order new from online stores like Amazon, you can always return headphones you don't like.

Same here. Contrary to what some may say, you can only change a headphone's sound so much with EQ.

All I'm saying is that upon hearing a new headphone, you may find that you want an entirely different sound.

That's why I put a slash in there, to specify that I was referring to both new revisions.

FYI, there are audible improvements with the Magni 2.

Yep yep. I've had bad luck in the past month or so. I made a handful of headphone purchases and strongly disliked so many of them. =/

and thats what scares me, spending this much i dont want to have constantly buy headphones because i dont like the sound of them

Is there a huge difference between the 990 250ohms and the 770 250 ohms? more bass or something

I'm wearing my A40's right now with no amp and I like the sound.. so obviously this will be a HUGE change for me
