My friend needs to replace his Sennheiser CX300 tips, I've some Shure olive foam tips but they're still sealed. Would these tips fit his IEM?

Not till you remove the inner tube in olive (modification).

Basically there are only two sorts of tips, for broad and small tubes.
CX300 is a broad-tube phone, the olives are made for small-tube phones (almost all Shures with the exception of f.i. the E2C).

You should read teh thread on using black olives for the Tripple.fi 10 and family. You should be able to do the same tricks to make them fit the CX300, at least I have done so for my son's CX300 when he ran out of stock tips and after doing it for my own Tripple.fi 10. Also the T-400 comply tips will fit Comply Foam - Comply Foam Tips T-400 Version
