I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. Is what I assume to be an incremental improvement really worth the additional $1500 using K702 and HD650? (And I realize "worth" is subjective). Ignore features - I only care about sound quality. Thanks.

Congratulations. Now it is time to buy some tubes before it comes.

Welcome to Head-Fi, sorry about your wallet

Please do post impressions once the unit arrives. As a former WA6SE owner I'm quite curious how the 5LE compares as well

Congratulations!

There seems to be a bunch of us buying the WA5 LE in the last 6 weeks.

My WA5 LE I guess is still in the tuning stage by Jack and company, so hopefully it will be shipping soon. But no rush I just want it to be right.

I do have a WA6SE max and love it, now I am very interested to compare my WA6SE and my soon to be WA5 LE.

Coming from someone who uses a 300B tubeamp with his 650 I can assure you that you made the right decision.

Ha, that didn't take you very long to give in and buy the fancier amp! If this is any consolidation to you, the WA5 was my dream amp about 1.5 years ago and I bought a WA6SE instead, thinking I would never pony up for the WA5. Well I recently found the incentive (and money) to make the upgrade and the WA5 was the only amp that I really wanted (even over the balancing act). Mine is arriving tomorrow and I'm super excited. I'm sure you made a great choice and it'll last you in the long run.

My only warning is that when you get world class equipment like that, you really need a good chain of equipment/power feeding it! High quality flacs (preferably well mastered albums) that feed a good DAC is very important!

I see that you have the MHDT Havana DAC (I have its little brother, Paradisea 3). How do you like it with the Woo? I know the Paradisea punches above its weight, but I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my DAC to get the most out of the WA5 LE (within reason, of course). I was thinking about the Audiog-gd DAC 19, but if that gives me only an incremental improvement, then it's not worth it in my eyes.

Absolutely the best combo i've heard till now.
Havana + WA6SE (or other Woo's) is a very enjoyable, easy and fun to listen combo, zero harshness or sibilance, liquid mids, low dynamic bass and smooth, relaxed hights, also a very detailed and airy presentation, good holographic and 3D imaging. Havana was first DAC i heard that stopped me to try other DAC's

I want to upgrade it futher (like premium parts for Woo's) with better film and electroliytic caps, better fuse. I hope you are using a JW WE396A in your Paradisea, cos it's best tube right now for it. Bear in mind also i never heard other MHDT DACs.

Any updates on the sound of the WA5LE?
