The package arrived this morning!
I did not have time to unpack it yet.
I know what I am doing this weekend!!!!

Dude, in your first signature image is an Empire turntable; I owned one of these golden beauties for many years, bought at Stromboli's Audio in Lewiston, Maine around 1975. Sold in New Orleans in 1986. I believe it had a 10 lb platter, considered amazing at the time. I loved that thing.

I too, have ordered a Woo 6. It will be modded with pdps, cap upgrades, DACT attenuator, and Sophia Rectifier.

All the tubes have arrived:

2x GE 6CY7
2x RCA 6FD7
2x RCA 6DR7
and the stock United 6DE7's

Tuberolling impressions and final break in impressions soon :).

I have Senn 650's on the way as well, so those I'm sure will sound very nice with the WA6 :)

On wooaudio site I can read about W6:
Headphones impedance : 8-600 Ohms
So, can anybody tell me how it drives IEMs? I like my Westone UM2 cause I can use it during night and nobody is disturbed. I've read on many sites that tubes and low ohms IEM is not a good idea...
Do I have to look for my Westone a ss amp instead?

Final impressions posted, with tuberolling impressions and some construction analysis.

Enjoy!

wow, nice detailed impressions of the output tubes!

you may want to try other brands of these tubes as some have very different
internal constructions as well as sound characteristics. i notice that the 6cy7
you used has a short plate structure. you may want to try one with a longer
one. you may hear some difference. quite often the sound is heavily influenced
by the cathode rod, anode plate and the structure of the grids between them.
often the older tubes have better components in them or maybe it's just better
craftsmanship, but they usually have a more refined sound. of these tubes you
can clearly find the older ones by looking to see if they have 3 getters (one on
top, two on the side) or the shape of the getter on top being a horse shoe.

one more thing, i've come to the conclusion that for almost all of the output tubes
compatible for the wa6 and wa6SE the sylvania's exhibit clarity and leanness, the
rca's exhibit lushness and thickness and the tungsol's exhibit neutrality and balance.
there will always be exceptions to the rule but i think the above is a common observance
in these output tubes for the wa6/SE.

here a pic of the long plate 6cy7 i use. the plates are of the same length as
that of the 6de7:

In general... that sums it up fairly well.

Though, I find the various combos of rectifiers and various brands of 6DE7s, 6EW7s, and 6FD7s can change these general sound qualities quite a bit - to the point that the Raytheon 6EW7s with the Sylvania or Philco 5U4G sound very airy, clear, detailed... yet with great PRAT, and bass, and rich mids, etc. So... it seems you really have to experiment quite a lot by "mixing and matching" various rectifiers with amp output tubes. You'll find some very great surprises.

But... no matter, which tubes I try... the WA6 SE never fails to amaze me, with any phones.

Interesting. That 6CY7 looks exactly the same as a they sylvania 6de7. I'll have to hunt around for one. Need to get an RCA 6DE7...I think that would be king

takezo...what brand are those 6CY7's? I've looked on ebay quite a bit, and all the various brands (RCA, etc.) look the same as the tubes I have.

I am listening and giving them a 2nd chance, still a tad bit of extra bass.

mine are Dumont 6cy7... rebrand with manufacturer being sylvania- code 312
i got them thru a website seller:

Vacuum Tubes Radio Tubes - 5,000 different tubes in stock - Over 10 million tubes!

call them up and talk to dale or roy... the 6cy7 go for $3 per piece.
they'll even match the tubes electrically if you ask. just mention to
them that you're interested in the ones with the longer anode plates.
(they carry all the output types compatible for the wa6 and wa6SE.)

btw, how many hours do you have on your output tubes? all of these tubes
require some burn-in before they settle to show their potential...

I've had all of them burn in for ~10-15 hours, so some burn in. I'll be sure to update with more impressions. I'm rotating the tubes every day or so and listening more.

Thanks for the referral! If (more like when...) I get the itch to get some more tubes I'll get them from there.
