I don't know if it is proper to talk about this, mods if it is not, just delete or close this thread.

I just read this post:

http://www5.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71691

Its scary to think that his new "characters" already has lots of posts & positive feedbacks. Looking at his posts & feedbacks, I would not have any reservations dealing with him if it were not for Jude's warning post.

I don't know how you found out Jude, but thanks for your vigilance anyway.

Yeah, after I read Jude's post, all I could think was "Thank Buddha that I didn't respond to any of Slimm's F/S threads!"

Now, all that I'm hoping for is that everybody who is currently transacting with Slimm/williamgoody will complete their transactions successfully. Keeping fingers crossed.

whao... he's been active recently in the portables forum. I had no idea that was him. Hopefully he will stay gone this time, but I doubt it. That's totally evil to scam trusting people, and worse, to come back for more.

edit: this would have been an excellent oppurtunity to corner him before he knew that head-fi was onto him. In other words, responding to his For Sale ads to obtain mailing addresses or phone numbers. He still needs to make good on the money/equipment he took, or face the legal consequences.

Well, I still have his name and mailing address where I have sent him a pair of cans last summer; it is (was?) a valid address since he confirmed that he received my cans. Unfortunately it seems it's useless just to have his contact details. I have filled a complaint to some US authority (http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp) with all possible information which was largely enough to have him nailed for fraud. So did other head-fiers, all victims of williamgoody. Result: not even a reply or whatever. Nix. Nada.

On the other hand, there might be some head-fiers which have now contact with "Slimm" or "4P4me" who have already eceived his (new?) contact details... but again, what can be done?

I (thought) I had an agreement with "4P4me" for him to purchase my Audiophile USB a month ago or so. No surpise, he never sent the money order after innumerable pms/ems from me inquiring if he was still interested.

I believe he indicated that he wished me to ship the unit to a family member's address, something about mail service to his place being unreliable (that should have told me something was funny). Had I not deleted it, it might have given us some info on who/where this guy is.

Thanks to the moderators finding this guy out.

Hmm...I'll watch for this guy over at the ipod studio, too. I really dislike scams of any sort. Is there further reading about this somewhere? Anyone know any threads about this from before?

It's really too bad that this stuff has to happen. Thanks to Jude, he's been shut down here. I hope that nobody else gets scammed, and I hope that those who have will succeed in exacting from this idiot some measure of compensation for their troubles.

I've got to admit, I was almost caught up in this latest one...wasn't quick enough to bite on that iPod.

The address issue should have been an indicator that something didn't smell right. My advice (as one who has been burned before): use PayPal, and insist on a confirmed shipping address. At least that way you have some recourse.

It's a shame that we can't just operate based on trust...but apparently there will be people like this guy that take advantage of that.

Actually, I'm constantly and pleasantly suprised at how many transactions we do successfully carry out on the basis of trust. I've done a fair few and the probs have totalled 1%. That's not bad at all. You just have to clothe yourself in knowledge and be a little "streetwise" and you can normally avoid the scammers. It's a pity that even one exists, but we should also remember the good ones, who are many.

I had an ongoing deal with him (probably the largest of everyone), but I guess something didn't seem right - the absurdly low prices, the fact that his mailing address was a P.O. Box, the fact that he only accepted money orders, and seemed so eager to sell his stuff, the fact that finals were approaching and I was quite busy (the last reason being the most crucial one), I delayed a few days in sending out the payment. I'm still pending judgment on him, but judging from others' experiences in the past I guess I might've gotten lucky.

Yes you are. But im sure many were burned. I wonder how much he got in his most recent scam here. What's scary is that he has other registered nicks as back-up. Im sure he would have used the 4P4me nick after slimm gets a bad rep if Jude had not checked him out.

I was given a street address and the name of a real person, which I have verified through Rockland County public records. Does anyone have any more information on Mr. Goody? Real name, etc? If this guy is ripping people off, I'd like to take steps to make it difficult for him to do that in the future, such as reporting this to the proper authorities. Please PM me with info.
