Oh no, they weren't. AKG was a lot better when they had the K-501 and K-1000 in production. But that's just me, not entirely happy with the K-701.

I think the K-501 will appreciate, but not like the rare and exotic headphones. I wouldn't be surprised to see values climb $50-$70 or so as they get scarce. They are an excellent, albeit misunderstood, headphone.
