WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro
Mar 4, 2023 at 11:38 AM Post #376 of 804
Since my Wiim Mini updated yesterday it will no longer play 24/192 audio over optical to either of the DACs I have with me while I am currently travelling. Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone have any suggestions for fixing it? I have already tried unplugging and reconnecting the Wiim and DACs and have tried both glass and polymer based optical cables, both of which had no problem passing 24/192 until now. Thanks in advance.
Assuming the device settings are correct, I suggest you send Feedback directly from the app (it also sends a log).

Check the audio output resolution hasn’t defaulted to 16/44.1 in the Wiim app

I have already checked it. Even the sample audio won't play at 24/192 or 14/192 to my DACs anymore. Optical is only working with 96 and lower sample rates.

@JaquesGelee what would you like a screenshot of? The spdif resolution settings or something else?

Edit: And keep in mind, I had 24/192 working fine until yesterday.

Will do. I just wanted to check in and make sure there wasn't some known issue/fix that I was unaware of.

Just got mine.
From the get-go, slightly better than Chromecast Audio, especially if you're into Tidal and/or Qobuz.

The built-in Burr Brown PCM-5191 DAC sucks though.
ATM, my only DAC with optical in is ifi xDSD which uses an older Burr Brown DSD-1793.
But still sounds cleaner and more detailed.

Anyone using WIIM PRO against SMSL M500MK2/3 or Topping DX5?
Or can anyone suggest a better DAC/HPA to pair with it, at similar price range?

One minor gripe is that my XDSD indicator says Wiim PRO is passing PCM Signal, instead of MQA.
(MQA: ON, MQA External DAC: MQA, Fixed Volume: On, Mono Audio: Off, EQ: Off, SPDIF 24/192)
I am using the Wiim Pro with a Topping E50, the Wiim unfolds the first MQA and the Topping completes it and shows OFS which is the final unfold when
using optical

BTW, for anyone following this issue, customer service at Wiim just shot me an email saying to send them my address and they'd get a new Mini out to me ASAP. I'm quite happy with how they've handled the whole situation. It's always nice to deal with a company that puts out good products and backs them with good service.

I’ve got a couple of Minis, and since the recent update the search function for Amazon, using the Wiim app, doesn’t seem to be working. For example if I type The Beatles, it comes up no results. Has anyone else had this problem?
I’ve checked that I’m logged into my Amazon Music account. Search works fine using the Amazon app.

When I first set mine up, I had a problem like this with Qobuz so I just reset the Mini and set it up again and it has worked from then on out. I have no way of knowing if that will work for you too, but there you have it, FWIW.

Fails for both my Pro and Mini and on both my iPad and android phone. Ticket submitted.

Sorry it didn't work. Hopefully the folks at Wiim get you sorted. Their support was very good to me when I sought help. 🤞

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully Wiim can sort it. I’ll raise a ticket too.

Regarding the problem I was having with Amazon on the Wiim app, Bluos is doing the same. Qobuz, Tidal are fine, it’s just Amazon.
It could be a problem at Amazons end, rather than Wiim, and now Bluos.
