Well, I actually prefer the Russian classics for my bog-time reading. Nothing like a bit of Chekhov or Turgenev to help the flow, or perhaps Dostoevsky for those 'longer' sessions. Some Tchaikovsky on the headphones can also help to embellish the period atmosphere..

I prefer light reading....like that day's mail. You can also save toilet paper by reading the mail on the toilet...especially bills.
