Why do Metallica endorse Metalli-Cans Skullcandy Hesh and Lowrider???
Apr 23, 2009 at 10:28 PM Post #46 of 91
The funny thing is Robert has arguably the most talent of the bunch...he's one excellent bass player and yet his cut o the pie is the smallest (or at least it seems that way from public conjecture).

Peete.

PS Has anyone tried the cans out ? It's possible they might actually be not half bad or even good ? I'd be willing to try them out in a store for kicks....the only caveat of course is what does the silly endorsement add to the actual cost of the phones ?

PSS I think an apt name change for the boys to reflect their current musical state should be Mc'Tallica, the McDonald's of Metal

There's certainly better thrash metal bands out there, but you should check out Live **** : Binge and Purge, it shows what they could do at their peak.

That's a very good live set, and the SQ of most of it was better than expected.

for God knows what reason they're pretty popular.

The Black Album still ranks up there for me as one of the best Metal albums ever made. If you dont like their stuff, thats your tastes, but they do have talent. Or at least they did. I cannot withstand listening to one song on St. Anger or Death Magnetic. If horrible smelling eye watering garbage had a sound signature that would be it.

"Frequency range: 100-18,000 Hz"

Oh, don't forget Guitar Hero Metallica! The most unpopular of them all!

Normally, I like the weird colors of skullcandy (Excuse me, I'm 14), but this looks like the crap they sell @ the 99 cents store

How did a picture of my grandmother get onto this website? I had no idea she plays guitar. You go, Granny!

Rolling stones gather no moss, but Rolling Stones do gather money, by any means possible. Oh! the humanity.

Metallica have obviously learned from the best (worst.)

I think its all about making money, but not from the headphones themselves. The idea is probably that by putting their name on the trendy Skull Candy headphones they will be able to increase the number of people who listen to their music. "Since Skull Candy is so impressed with Metallica they made a pair of headphones based on them, they must be awesome! I'm going to buy their CD/mp3/go to the show/talk to my friends about them!" If Metallica can make sure that there will be new generations of Metallica fans interested in them and their music they will ensure that they have lots of cash (and futures) for as long as they need. If Metallica had signed with a little-known company like Grado they may have had a better product, but there would be WAY less hype and listenership generated despite the better sound quality. In the end it all comes down to the money that can be made off it.
