why are these bad

Really? I don't know any gamer that uses them and I play with L4D, TF2 and WoW players. They all use logitech/sennheiser/steel headsets. They especially do not a 5.1 surround headphones.

Intensive players dont use excellent headphones because at a lan you need 2 things from a headphone: Isolation and clear ventrilo/ts/whatever communication. You also need sturdy headphones that arent super expensive and not too bulky because having an extra bag for your phones is just a pain.
But if you just wanna play at home any headphone is fine, many people on these forums like the Audio tech ad700 for gaming and its also a very good phone for music.
These headphones look nicely made and could be great but for sound quality getting a pair of more famous audiophile phone would be a better choice.

it is bad because:

The bad:
Headphones require power; tedious setup; requires a lot of wires; included 3-foot optical cable and USB cable won't get you far; heavy headphones; doesn't work with the Wii.

but seriously, if you are not looking for a built in mic, then focus your search on decent stereo headphones from the more 'mainstream' brands. Popular gaming headphones that actually are good are the Sennheiser HD555 and Audio Technica AD700 (at less than $100). Two solid choices to start with, the rest depends on your budget and further needs.

You're making a big mistake when you said price isn't important HERE on head-fi.

Don't be surprised if you're getting very costly recommendations.

i have had those. the tritton headphones are comfy enough, have a nice mic, and give a great sense of 5.1 surround sound. they sound like hell however. zero bass, very tinny sound

I don't get it, why would people want 5.1 blablabla speakers and such for gaming.
it doesn't improve your reaction time or anything, I pwn most people in CSS with just 2.0 (M-audio).
train some reflexes and buy a good mouse instead spending too much money in those useless stuff

many people think you need 5.1 for positional audio (well, 5.x anyway).

They don't know that with proper processing you can get positional audio, even above and below, from two channels.

And of course some games don't process positional audio properly...

its more of a want than a need, its more i want my weapons to sound good when im shooting them

what are you talking about getting a better mouse. all you need is a laser mouse that glides well on the tabletop. get more coordination in your mouse hand and you dont need a better mouse. see what i mean?

Don't know about you but I prefer my Deathadder over any standard mouse for gaming, fits the hand better, never had tracking issues, etc.

You know Microsoft Habu was designed by Razer using almost the same design as the DeathAdder. But it's noted that because of the Habu, Razer purposely held back on the DeathAdder ensuring the Habu would be the better mouse still. Eaiser to use on the fly change in sensitivity, similar to the G5 mouse. Customizable two thumb button placements. And lastly, but best of all, an improved Laser technology not offered by the DeathAdder.

I personally use the Logitechs because I have small hands + design = far more ergonomic. Ergonomics for mice = the most important ergonomics tbh. I have a '07 G5.
No budget?
Got STAX? Maybe Sony MDR-F1, which are known to be a superb gaming can.

Sound can significantly add to the atmosphere and enjoyment of a game and of course for FPS's, frags.
My kill count significant goes up with proper headphones tbh.

lol gaming mice. If you have a laser usb mouse typically the limitation is in the sampling rate from your USB.
And even then you have smoothers and scalers in game that give a similar performance from a $5 mouse.

Why did you even write that? It just showed you know nothing about gaming mice at all. Whatever, just more for the ignore list.
