Why are people saying Audio Technica M50's are only 100 dollars everywhere I go?

I'm trying to get these headphones, but everywhere I read on this website people keep listing them as 100 dollar headphones, when I can't find them for less than 150. Did they just have a price increase?

And also can they be used effectively from cd players/iPods without an amp? If not, what amp would be necessary? (38 OHMS)

The price jumps around anywhere in between $100 - $150 so maybe right now it's at the $150 range. It should go down again later on, keep checking different sites for the M50.

Patience is the mother of all virtues, my friend. Let's them jacking up the price for now, the price will drop when they need to move their inventories for new products, the ATH-PRO 700 MK II. The M50s are good cans for entry level to mid-fi world, not a big deal as with all the hypes.

Is it not bizarre to anyone else how much the price has gone back and forth in the past few months? Is that a common thing in audio gear? Lol

I don't think the M50 is meant to be a $100 headphone =)

Definitely, there is a difference between low-end and hi-end gear regarding retail price. Mass produced low end gear MSRP drop like fleas when new models coming out.

Hi-end gear MSRP goes up almost every year. I could not even justify to buy Bryston amps or Cary Audio ( such as the wonderful SLI 80) any more. We are not even talking about B.A.T here.

HPs are still a very affordable option with some compromise in SQ so be happy for now.

Lucky you're not here in Australia, it's more like $170 over here

In Greece the cans cost 225$...It is frustrating how some people are making extra money from us..
God save Ebay....:)
