LOL. A classic question from an anxious customer.

Where did this ten day thing come in? I sure hope it's ten days from day of ordering and not 10 days from official release date for everyone. I ordered 7 days ago (weekends included)

I ordered mine 16 working days ago (preorder.) So I am sure the queue is quite filled for orders to complete. There hasn't been any official notice on Xin's website. However, you should recieve an e-mail from Xin when he has mailed out your Order (as it has been posted here from previous customers and as it is stated on Xin's website.)

I am still waiting anxiously to recieve my SuperMacro.

If you are serious about your question...
Source -> SuperMacro, let you music play through for several hours for burn in.

That is not what I was asking...I was asking how it is possible to burn-in a headphone amplifier...there isn't even any rational explanation for how a headphone MIGHT burn-in, let alone empirical evidence supporting it.

It seems like an idiotic superstition to me.

Did you burn-in your computer, too, when you received it? How about your TV? Does your TV look better now than it used to?

with the HD 25-1 and it sounds really nice to me! I'm only demo'ing the stock model, but I would think any headphone that tends towards a slightly darker sound will synergize well with the SuperMacro. If I didn't have enough amps and wasn't broke I'd be standing in line for one.

Erikzen, thanks for the information. I read your brief impression on SM and the "coloration in bass" seems that the SM's working on only 4 batteries. Xin found a design flaw in back panel that will lead to 4 batteries don't work. Just this afternoon he's found a perfect solution. Under the 4 batteries, SM still work very well, but the base is less tight and tends to have the "coloration" you mentioned. I found 8 batteries work much better than only 4. You can check with the AC adaptor to see if the sound's different.

hey, if you don't believe it, good for you.

i've had some experience with it and i think it's true.

do you have evidence that burn in doesn't work?

seems like your argument is just as valid as the statement you are against.

are you trying to start a fight or have reasonable discourse?

if the latter is the case, then maybe you should set your priorities

Really, I think you are correct. Engineers refer to capacitor burn-in in terms of them failing, not getting better. Yes, the TV does burn in. After some time the picture will start to fade.

I ordered mine on Oct. 3. The wait is killing me, but there isn't much to do except be patient.

After sending an e-mail to Xin on Nov. 5 to see how things were going, and to readjust my order since some of the options are no longer available from the original order, I received the following:

Quote:

The shipping has started for the early orders, so you should receive it
soon.

That was ten days ago, so I'm hoping this week it will be here.

Hey, I'm beginning to think you actually are Xin in disguise

Seriously, though, I'm glad Xin caught the battery problem before he sends out my SuperMacro. Just tonight, I tried to hook up Ety's to my crappy soundcard's headphone jack when Ety's came alive and tried to choke my neck, crying, "Donde Esta mi SuperMacro?"

If a pine cone falls off a tree in a far-away forrest and there's nobody to hear it, then did the noise actually exist?

Let's all just try to have fun. It's only audio after all, right? All we want is to put on our favorite music and groooove.

I didn't much see a difference in PQ with my new Sony TV with burn-in, and didn't see much difference in my new computer's functions with burn-in. Didn't mean it didn't happen at the microchip level. Just means my own senses were not acute enough to notice it.

When I make a DIY adapter or DIY cable and stick it in right after a few fresh solder joints, I do hear the roughness in sound until at least few hours pass. When I stick in a fresh new tube, I do hear burn-in over a time period. Same thing with my tube amp, tubed CDP.

Heck, even after YEARS of use, if I turn off my tubed CDP for a couple of days and turn it on fresh, I definitely hear an inferior sound until some hours later. But this is in a multi-kilbuck audiophile system with very revealing speakers. I don't hear it via pair of iPod earbuds

But if YOU don't hear it, even when I might hear it, God bless you and you should consider yourself lucky b/c it is somewhat of a nuisance to notice these buggers..

Good listening to us all.

Lucky you

It's fair enough you have this idea... My answer is NO. I don't have Xin's talent. I'm a graduate student in Michigan. Started from getting the SuperMacro, I've since become Xin's fan and have a lot of communication with him. I found Xin responses very quick to our concerns and so I keep him updated on whatever I found that's helpful for him to improve SM; in return, I got some first-hand information to share with you guys

Tubes need to break in and warm up. Solid state doesn't. This is according to EEs not me. But I digress.

I do not think the SuperMacro I was sent is having a battery issue. I had some trouble inserting the batteries the first time and had to play around with the copper connectors a little bit. Maybe I fixed the problem.

I do not notice the coloration in the bass as much as I did when Ray Samuels cranked the *its out of the amps and it was powering the PS-1 through his Meridian player. Maybe I just can't detect the same difference on my old CD player and DT 931 headphones.

Or maybe the amp is burned in now.

Or pehaps they have burned out!

But as Neil Young says, "it's better to burn out than it is to rust."

were not very good. I had a few things to correct and then the battery issue came up. I have resolved all of the issues, with the battery contacts and the unit is "burning" in.

I am listening with HD650's and Portapros (great buy for the money, if not in my opinion, the best buy on the market). The sound is transparent, fast and has solid well controlled bass. I enjoy the open-air feel (sound) of this amp. I normally listen only with tubes and have not had anything solid state in a number over years. I notice that this amp has the positive tube quality I look for but is not over ripe or slow, as some tube equipment, when not done correctly, can sound.

I will have more impressions as time goes on. I notice that I do not notice the change from battery to the outside power supply. I find it odd that the wall wart does not introduce hum or loss or sound quality. Great package!

I compare this to the sound of my regular system, which has a very tangible real quality to the sound in all respects.

John,

What SuperMacro configuration are you using?
