'Cuz I know I'm thinkin' about it. It has been just a short few weeks since I started regularly checking these forums at head-fi.org out again, and I'm helplessly addicted to amps and 'phones and dap's once again. Now, I may order a Supermacro, when/if it's finally officially released. I was just wondering if there are any others who are planning to order a Supermacro once it is officially released...

I plan to order one some time next week. I thought I'd wait to see if there are any changes anounced tomorrow then watch the HeadFI reactions before making a final decision.

Currently considering the following

4-switch version
default OP amps in sockets (I'll do some rolling later)
2 Buffers and 4000uf caps
Black- Silver doesn't appeal to my even though it would look better with my Rio Carbon. Perhaps I'd feel differently if I could see it in person.

I'll be driving HD 580s and Koss Portapros.
Source is a Rio Carbon (mobile) and Rotel RDC 9658x (stationary)

I'm also planning to order one today.

What makes me hesitate is that the webpage hasn't changed for announcing the "launch" of the product, so I'd like to see if they're any last minute feature/price changes before buying.

I put my order in today, the "official release" day...I ordered the black case, with the OPA 627, 2x buffers and the four switches...supposedly in ten days...

Xin said the design for sound-wise is fixed and would not do any change before launch. He's improving the back panel in the past week.

Xin compared the one with 2XBuf634 and the one with 4XBuf634, he personally prefer the sound of the one with 2 Buf634.

What is he doing with the back panel? I personally found it just a tad difficult to fit all the batteries in and screw down the back. Not all that bad but I had to think about it, if you know what I mean.

From what I heard, he's trying to find other way to make it more reliable. The current one is using two-side sticker which might be a problem when using it for a long time. It has nothing to do with the screw stuff. By the way, how do you like the sound of SuperMacro so far, especially at the NY gathering? Do you find any good cans synergizing well with it?

I agree that the stickers are not the best solution.

PS-1s and HD600 both sounded excellent with the SuperMacro. However, I realize both of those are a bit overboard. I'm listening to it right now

with the HD 25-1 and it sounds really nice to me! I'm only demo'ing the stock model, but I would think any headphone that tends towards a slightly darker sound will synergize well with the SuperMacro. If I didn't have enough amps and wasn't broke I'd be standing in line for one.

SuperMacro ordered

Black case, opamp sockets, (I have OPA627's at home), 4 switches, 4000uf caps, 2 buffers.

No word from Xin yet, but from what I've read, the waiting time is ~10 days, right? Does that mean normal days or just weekdays?

"Does that mean normal days or just weekdays?"

LOL. A classic question from an anxious customer.

Where did this ten day thing come in? I sure hope it's ten days from day of ordering and not 10 days from official release date for everyone. I ordered 7 days ago (weekends included)

The stock model uses AD8610. I am using the stock model as well. Xin told me the one sent to NY has not been burned in for a minute. I am sure you will find the sound's improving after 60 hours

That is a good point. I tried to burn it in prior to the meet but I doubt it has more than 20 hours on it. It will go back to Xin before it's fully burned in, I'm sure.

I wonder what the results of the meet comparison had been if the SM had the OPA627 in instead of the AD8610...

Can anyone explain to me how the heck you burn in a headphone amplifier?

They are soldered wires and chips on a circuit board, people!

Did you burn-in your computer and television, too?

These burn-in claims are getting absurd.

Currently listening to: "Smack my bitch up" by Prodigy on my GROOVY KSC75s.
