Does the iPod still come with an AC adapter?
I'm not good at installing cards, or even opening my PC for that matter.
I'm not sure if I could have a USB 2.0 card installed soon.
I would need an AC adapter to charge the iPod.

You can charge through USB 1.1. Both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports emits 500mA of power, enough to charge the iPod. I think Apple got rid of the charging via firewire.

I'm guessing no though?

So what extras would help make life eazy-e?

I was going to ask the same thing, what extras would an iPod newbie need to buy to get started on the right track.

Best case, headphones, charging mechanism, etc.

You need:

1. The Universal Dock
2. A Sendstation Pocketdock
3. Portable headphone amp -- Headroom Total Airhead, Meier Audio Porta Corda, etc.
4. Good IEM's -- Shure, Etymotic, etc.
5. Good full size cans for home listening (altho I assume you have those)
6. Nice case (I also love my Vaja)
7. The plug-in charger
8. A car cassette or FM adapter
9. A car charger
10. LOTS OF MONEY.

Opinions vary greatly here, but here's a sample setup

Vaja cases iVod (when released)
HD595 cans or e4 IEMs
Sik Din line out
Cardas mini-mini
Ray Samuels Hornet (when released)
iPod charger

"the ultimate setup"; watch your wallet run for the hills

Peronally, I'd sacrifice the stealth looks for a pause button and volume controls, but that's me.

Well I don't need the car accessories as I don't drive, or full size cans, so how much would the rest cost me?

Rough estimates

1. The Universal Dock $40
2. A Sendstation Pocketdock $30
3. Portable headphone amp -- Headroom Total Airhead, Meier Audio Porta Corda, etc. - $200
4. Good IEM's -- Shure, Etymotic, etc. $200
5. Nice case (I also love my Vaja) $100
6. The plug-in charger $50
