Which phone would you keep?

I'd choose my EX71... they're protable, subtle, very comfy, and not very heat absorbant. Not really good quality sound, but I prefer comfort over sound quality (arn't I an oddball)

When crap hits the fan,
I will keep my SR225 for a long long time. Just for some future project I'm planning on. After looking at the woody cd3000, that was REAL inspiration for me to customize SR225. Looking at the construction and build quality, these phones deserve alot more than where it's at.
I probably upgrade my k501 to hd650. Already I gave away 20+ head gears to my buddies.

Interesting thread. In view of Bangraman's constraints, I have:

- A 20 year old pair of Sennheiser HD 450 SLs (with no ear cushions - recently ordered some new ones)
- Shure E5s
- Ety ER4Ps

Since the rules only allow me to keep one set (only three in my possession), and my sole use now is on the fly with my minIpod, I would choose...............

Tough question... Between AKG 501s, Sennheiser 650, Ety 4S, Ety 4P, and Sony CD3000s, Porta Pros... Hmmm... I guess Sony CD3000 and Ety 4S. The jury is still out on the 650s.

OK,OK. Given my love for purity I'd have to give up some "thump" and stay with the fresh, clean romance I've already quickly developed with the Etys. Sorry, E5s, it just wasn't going to work between us. Bangraman, collect up the leftovers.........

I'd keep my HE60 and RS-1.

Why the sennheiser HE-60? because it's so relaxing while at the same can rock hard when needed. It's more upfront then my HD 600 yet less then RS-1.
The RS-1 would be used for rock etc, there is no question IMO that they beat the HE-60 in entertainment factor with certain cd's.With the right amp they involve me so much in the music that HE60 gathers dust for weeks.

I own SR-80's, KSC-50's, and MX400's (only meritable phones I literally own). I'd keep all of them, but if I had to keep one...well duh! The Grados.

Stax SR-404 for home and Stax SR-003 for traveling.

Senn HD 650 with Bayley Audio Diamondback upgrade cable. Why? This headphone is the most balanced and natural sounding headphone I know of when paired with a tube amp and a good source. I have been through all the grados but the sr-325's, beyer dt 880's, sony cd3000 etc. and all have some flaw which ultimately annoyed me. The hd 650 set up as stated never offends or fatigues me and just lets me enjoy my music.

Right now it's be the SR125 for home/travel with my Supermini. They're more scaleable with an amp than my SR60 and those are my only full sized cans. The Portapro for portable use because of their great sound, but I'm beginning to REALLY like these e2's for their compactness. It's nice to have a good sounding set of buds that I can just drop in my laptop case and get moving.

I currently own a really old and recently rebuilt set of DT-990, SR-60 and CD-3000. Listened to 600 senhiesers ,Sony CD-2000's and some lesser Sony and senheisers before I bought the 3000's. CD-3000's sound great to my old ears and can be comfortably worn for hours.
The SR-60's are simply un-comfortable IMO - but do offer great sound for the dollars invested.
