A few popular headphones used from a sound card for FPS gaming: AD700, HD555, A900. For your uses, I'd want the A900 but it sells new for ~$250. Search these for more info. I've owned all 3, but don't game. It would help narrow your search if you know whether you wanted open or closed headphones.

The AD700 looks nice, but I am afraid that he bass isnt powerfull, for games the people say it is perfect, but for music and films they preffer the HD 555.

I want open headphones because the soundstage is better...

Right, I agree with your post. I'm waiting on shipment of my new SE-A1000. With additional amplification, I expect it to be a good upgrade from the HD555 / HD595 - bigger sound stage and bass.

I'm not sure how you derived that suspicion. You want open headphones that have been commonly used for gaming and movies AND has more bass than the AD700 - that's the HD555.

Headphones are often found to sound different depending on the equipment it's plugged into. The A900 does not have a small sound stage, will have more bass, and is preferred by many who game and want positional audio. It probably does movies well too. I only used it for music. Google search "A900 x-fi" for more info. The A900 sells for more than double the price of the AD700 or HD555.

Oooooo you're getting the Pioneer se-a1000?  I'm really interested in that headphone.  Could you post some impressions (both first and final)?  Thanks.

Sure, looking forward to it - Monday night - brand new. Will use it from 2 set ups - 1) from a Prodigy HD2 sound card, and 2) HD2 > amp > SE-A1000.
