I've just gotten into headphones, earbuds, etc. Just got a pair of skullcandy phones. (please, no flaming ) But until now I've only ever owned either what came with the device I bought or phones that are typically $10 or less. The skullcandys are the best I've gotten so far and I am inherently cheap, but I also like music that doesn't sound muddy. When my current phones wear out or are broken, where should I look for affordable quality?, Like $50 or so.

In general all types of music, except vulgar hiphop, country music recorded after 1995, and death metal. I also tend to listen to a lot of talk radio type files.

If you're planning to use them at home, i can recommend the JVC HArx700's. With eq tweaks they sound goood.

You can try getting some of the Superlux headphones that are being raved these few months as being "Giant Killers" and allegedly having SQs matching up to headphones 10 times their prices..
