Where to buy T1 replacement ear pads
Jan 21, 2014 at 12:39 PM Post #16 of 23
I asked Beyerdynamic directly and they told me the 'black 880/990 pads" are the ones used for the T1. Yet in my very brief time with the T1, I could have sworn that the pads were definitely thicker than the 880/990 pads and it made sense to me at the time considering the design of the phone. I'm still not convinced the T1 doesn't ship with a thicker velour pad than the replacement ones.

Any confirmation of whether T90's or T1's ship with EDT990VB's ?

And i also noticed a weight difference on EDT990V silver (39g), than the EDT990VB black (26g)

Perhaps its a typo ?

Also, has anyone tried HiFiMan HE400 pads of Beyerdynamic Tesla T-1 or T-90 ?

On a T70 yes.  They fit perfectly.  Was using the pleather ones on the T70 for a long time.
Didn't try any hifiman pads on my T1.

Recently switched to a pair of HE-560 pads on my T70.  Didn't realise when i bought them they don't have the little flap that folds over the plastic ring that connects them to the hifiman phones and instead just has that glued on, so a bit of DIY was in order, but they are comfortable...  I'd prefer trying these on the T1 to the other hifiman pads, but they are angled so idk whether angled pads on the T1 with the already angled driver will be a good idea.

So if the EDT T1V earpads are correct, and all of us have been using the DT990 black pads then its not what the sound is like out of the box? Well how the hell do Beyerdynamic expect us to go buy the replacement part when all the sites say to look for dealers selling them...? The Danish store does not ship to the US, UK or Asia. Is there a phone number to call that an Australian could buy from with the right pads. I remember thinking the pads were a bit off when I got them a year ago.

If it helps anyone, the EDT T1G2 earpads are the official Beyerdynamic earpads for the 2nd gen T1. Amazon and Thomann are selling them.
Note: I tried the original earpads from my DT 990 and the EDT 770V on my modded T1, it did not sound as good as the stock ones...

Did you try the t1 on the 990 ? Just curious :p
