Well, I wasn't kidding about the burn-in time. When I got back from Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, I did a bit of listening to the Transporter. Basically, very thin midrange and no coherence at the low end. If it stayed that way, it was going back. However, as it's burning in, the midrange is coming through much better. Bass is tightening up, and you can hear a bass note as a string being plucked, as opposed to the original undifferentiated mass of low frequency sound. This unit has a lot of potential. Sonically, mine is at about the level of a Benchmark DAC1 now, and still improving.
