Looking for Chakka.

Got one and sent it in for upgrades. Waiting on the other. Didn't spend much time with it b/c I was in the middle of moving my 2.2 setup to a different room, sending my SDS-XLR to Mikhail for upgrades and rearranging my 5.1 setup to accomodate a new 65" 1080p plasma. I should have both units back this week and will provide some feedback shortly. I need to provide some pictures and impressions of a few pieces that I have recently acquired.

I've only got an hour or so on mine, and am heading out on travel again for a week, but initial impression of transporter is that it's good, and will need some burn-in before posting impressions. The coolness factor is amazing. I haven't even begun to test out the various features.

Well, I wasn't kidding about the burn-in time. When I got back from Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, I did a bit of listening to the Transporter. Basically, very thin midrange and no coherence at the low end. If it stayed that way, it was going back. However, as it's burning in, the midrange is coming through much better. Bass is tightening up, and you can hear a bass note as a string being plucked, as opposed to the original undifferentiated mass of low frequency sound. This unit has a lot of potential. Sonically, mine is at about the level of a Benchmark DAC1 now, and still improving.

I had my modder run scope reading on the Transporter. He was very impressed. He feels that the only mods that really need to be made are to the power supply and analog out path, which is consistent with what I have heard. Via the AES out into my TACtT the Transporter is fantastic and IMO achieves complete transparency as a transport. Via the XLR anbalog outs, I wanted something with a bit more impact, so I'm having him mod that section. I can't comment on how it sounds through the heaphone setup compared to the D-03/P-03 b/c my SDS-XLR has been adversely possessed by Voltron and my solid state Singlepower amp is around the corner.

Rob N- Upgrades have been made to the power supply (similar to yours I blelieve) and other design changes have been made to keep current w/ Mikhail's latest developments. Don't know much about the specifics as I am pretty much done with tubes and handed the amp off to Voltron.
