When you think about it, ibuds are the best value in headphones:

The ibuds are not free.
They are included in the price tag on the iPod.

200 bucks or whatever for an iPod with ibuds...
or 210 bucks for an iPod with KSC75s that sounds many times better.

So... when you think about it the ibuds aren't good value for money unless you got the iPod for free. Needless to say, the OP's reasoning leaves much to be desired.

lol, they're including them in the package, no way are they worth ten dollars.

I'd be surprised if you saved two dollars.

Exactly what I was thinking. They could be charging $350 for the box and giving you an iPod for free.

wow - "value" there's a word I never heard on head-fi.

I guess when you think about ibuds offer diminishing returns - think about - you could just play the music without headphones. of course you would not hear anything but in terms of SQ it's quite equal to ibuds.

Actually I have been inspired by this thread, thanks to the OP.

I will soon have a 'Destroy Your iBUDS' contest that I will run in the Member's Forum. I have to decide on the prize and the rules, so stay tuned...

Can I contribute? I have some creative junk-buds taking up space in my drawer.

What do you think... Lighter fluid?... crap from my gaughter's diaper?

not really

if you haven't noticed, many of the accessories sold by Apple are pretty expensive.

i wouldn't be surprised if they factored in a ridiculous price for the iBuds in an iPod package.

again, for most, it's not like they realize this, but for people who actually wants quality out of their headphones, the iBud isn't all that great

I upgraded my ER-6i with an ibud cable.

It's a MUCH better cable, imho.

This only applies if you got them free w/ ipod, btw.

If we are going to use this theory, then, iBuds are the worst value at $249, and the iPod is the best value DAP as it is free with the buds. QED.

You're dividing by zero. X/0 != infinity.

Sleeker than previous models, these Apple iPod Earphones fit comfortably in your ears and sound great — whether you’re listening at your desk, on the treadmill, in your backyard hammock, or wherever you enjoy your iPod.

false advertising.
