What's with all of the "burning in" talk?

I thought my 840s sounded better after about a week. But that was me getting used to them. Listening to them more I realized it was more or less the same exact sound as out of box.
I agree with Eric. Put them on and enjoy them. If you get used to them or they burn in and sound better, you still get to enjoy them.
