Oh, wow. I've seen a few memorable things, too.
Top of the list would be the 1992 riots in Los Angeles. I was working nights for UPS in Vernon while going to undergrad, and we watched the situation get worse and worse before we shut the place down and got the hell out. Had to drive down Washington Blvd. with a couple of co-workers... we saw burning, looting, and all sorts of horrible stuff. It was one of the few times I felt close to death.
In 2003, I saw a man hit by a train in Salem. My apartment overlooked the tracks, and the guy intentionally stepped in front of it.
Another time in downtown LA, I saw a homeless woman (probably intoxicated) wearing a too-small dirty t-shirt and nothing else.
One time at a local restaurant, I saw a child of about three beaten severely with a belt.
I've seen people relieving themselves in public, as well. Not as memorable as the other stuff, though.
