If you don't need a line-out I would recommend sony d-ne319. It's my fav. source right now till sony releases the high end 2006 models. The sound imo is excellent, and it only take one "AA" battery.

I still vote for the D-E900. The headphone alone is worth it in my book. The D-EJ925, D-EJ1000, and D-EJ01 are all suffer from a slightly muddied headphone out. The line out is good but I still prefer the D-E900. Out of my true portable discmen, I feel that the D-E900 mates very well with many low impedance phones.

I have both the D-EJ1000 & D-EJ2000. I think you are better off with the newer models. Try the D-NE920 or D-NE10. If you really want one of the 2 you mentioned, go for the D-EJ2000.

The one PCDP I loved for years was the D-EJ925. Built solid and incredible sound, IMO.

Good luck!~

Another player that you should be looking at Sony D-465. This unit is bigger than your previous unit and D-E900, FYI. The D-465 has 20 SEC ESP and should have sound signature similar to the D-E900/E905. It is also cheaper and you should be able to get it for under 70 bucks in Ebay. The unit also equips with the optical output, and backlit LCD on the unit. The unit is very well built with aluminum top.
