I was wondering what would be a good upgrade to my Sony mdr-xb 500. Now im looking for a pair of canns that are gonna be more suited to electronic music, also they need to be comfortable, i spend most of my day with them on. Another big point for me is they need to be good for mobile use, which meens i shouldnt be embarrassed to wear them in public. Lastly the max price that im willing to go is 250$.

Try the JVC S500. They cost about 40 and imho outdo many of the higher priced headphones out there. Good luck!

With a budget of $250, you can do miles better than the JVC. Are you looking for something extremely bassy like the XB500, or do you want a change in sound?

Beyerdynamic DT770-80 with a Fiio E12, or one of the Ultrasones. The Pro 900's have been discounted a lot recently, and have quite a bit of bass like you're probably looking for, but more detail than the XB500's.

Try looking into the UE6000, may not be as bassy as the XB500, but still bassy enough while still sounding good compare to the XB500.

I'd echo the recommendation of the PRO 900. It's one of the sole best bassy mid-fi cans, and if you can find it for a good price it's brilliant.
