I like some electronica, but I don't really feel that any of it defines me.

When I'm lyin' in my bed at night
I don't wanna grow up
Nothing ever seems to turn out right
I don't wanna grow up

How do you move in a world of fog that's
always changing things
Makes wish that I could be a dog

When I see the price that you pay
I don't wanna grow up
I don't ever want to be that way
I don't wanna grow up

Seems that folks turn into things
that they never want
The only thing to live for is today...

I'm gonna put a hole in my T.V. set
I don't wanna grow up
Open up the medicine chest
I don't wanna grow up

I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
I don't wanna grow up

Well when I see my parents fight
I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinkin all night
I don't wanna grow up

I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
I don't wanna live in a big old tomb on grand street

When I see the 5 oclock news
I don't wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes
I don't wanna grow up

Stay around in my old hometown
I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get a big old loan
Work them fingers to the bone
I don't wanna float on a broom
Fall in love, get married then boom
How the hell did it get here so soon
I don't wanna grow up

Embrace me, my sweet embraceable you
Embrace me, you irreplaceable you
Just one look at you
My heart grew tipsy in me
You and you alone
Bring out the Gypsy in me

I love all the many charms about you
Above all, I want my arms about you
Don't be a naughty baby
Come to mama, come to mama do
My sweet embraceable you

For songs without lyrics, I'd say that Metallica's "Orion" could describe my personality well. Slow and laid-back with a solid foundation (bass and drums), but everything seamlessly gets kicked into high gear at the right moments.

As for lyrics, there's only a snippet of one song that I feel fits me lately, but it fits very well. From AC/DC's "Ride On":
Quote:

Broke another promise
And I broke another heart
But I ain't too young to realize
That I ain't too old to try
Try to get back to the start
And it's another red light nightmare
Another red light street
And I ain't too old to hurry
'Cause I ain't too old to die
But I sure am hard to beat

"think about the good things that i did to you
and think about the bad things that i didn't do...
that i didn't do
that i didn't do
that i didn't do"

"Jaded" by Crystal Method.

This was pretty much my theme to the chicks I dated prior to getting married.

But you would need a soundtrack for anyone rather than one song.

I am not sure what song I most identify with, but number two is probably Buckets of Rain from Blood on the Tracks. My favorite verse is the last one:

Life is sad
Life is a bust
All ya can do is do what you must.
You do what you must do and ya do it well...

amen. blood on the tracks is my favorite album of all time. you're not the "jack of hearts" ?

Turn and face the change - changes
Look out you Rock and Rollers
Turn and face the change - changes
Pretty soon you're going to get older

most of you cats seem to have pretty melancholy "theme songs".
what does that say about people who tend to sit around isolated by their headphones?

But I'm gonna have to say "chick magnet" by MXPX

then after reallizing how much that's not the case I'll say "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd.

I think both these songs sum up my current situation:

Living Sacrifice - The Martyr
The Life and Blood of God, poured out, This is my Home, cannot turn away, dedication and sacrifice, so many people who knew before, killed and tortured, how did You breathe? what did You see? Your Blood testifies of Your Witness. Moving towards the guillotine, eviscerate by the execution, burning at the stake of faith, The Witness laid out for all to obtain. Moving toward the guillotine, eviscerate by the execution, burning at the stake of faith, The Witness laid out for all to obtain the Sacrifice is mine.

Soul Embraced - Existence in Despair
A galaxy of nothing
Space taken by unimportance
A face without a name, a life unseen
Forgiveness unobtained
Until true love obtained

This is what exists without You
There's no hate. There's no love.
There's only nothing, without You I cannot feel
I hear only silence, I'm numb with emptiness
This is my existence, a face without a name, a life unseen
Forgiveness unobtained, there's only nothing without you
You're all there is in my eyes, without You I'm blinded
I'm numb with emptiness, this is my existence

Besides the good meanings, they are awesome songs in their own right...Bruce Fitzhugh belts it out in The Martyr and Chad Cole gets it on in Existence in Despair.

Didn't know it
I am a lot like everyone I hate
I don't have dreams
They take too much of my time
I promised no more lies
And crossed my fingers that time

The Flaming Lips - Fight Test
The Flaming Lips - In the Morning of the Magicians
(lol I know I'm obsessed
smily_headphones1.gif
)

In the morning I awake
And I couldn't remember
What is love and what is hate
The calculations error

Oh, what is love and what is hate?
And why does it matter?
Is to love just a waste?
And how can it matter?
Oh.....

As the dawn began to break
I had to surrender
The universe will have it's way
Too powerful to master
Oh.....

The attachment has an english translation oif a famous poem by a Sufi Saint Bulla Shah which I can identify with quite distinctly and freely.
Please feel free to read it if you want to .
The words have deep meaning, might need some understanding.
