So I just picked up a pair of Equation Audio RP-21 headphones.
 
They are great. Sound awesome on my stereo, blissful compared to my POS in-ear phones (I'll never use in-ear again)
 
The problem is, they're very quiet when using on my portable. I'm using a Zune 30gb with WMA lossless. Can I get some suggestions for a portable amp? I listen to all sorts of music, but some examples are Allman Bros, Grateful Dead, Yonder Mountain String Band (Bluegrass), STS9, Bassnectar. A large range, but is there something that will work for me? My price range is below $50, I know I'm a cheapass.

Have you considered a cMoy? Quite inexpensive on eBay.

either a cmoy or a fiio e5. It doesn't get any cheaper than that. Get the cmoy on ebay and the e5 at dealextreme

Oh? I thought that my iPod powered my HD 555's (the 595's brother) just fine. However, if you want more bass, you can consider the cMoy Bass Boost 2.02.

it sounds pretty good already just straight out of the ipod...but i'm on amazon right now...probably gonna buy the grado 1/4-1/8 adapter...and it's eligible for free shipping if i buy the e1/e5 to push it past $25 haha
